Person Specification Essential MRCGP Special Interest(s) Desirable Gynaecology Reporting To: The Partners with functional reporting to the Practice Manager Role: During your defined hours of work you will provide NHS personal medical services to registered patients on the practice list within the defined practice boundary. In exceptional circumstances you may be asked to provide additional services on an emergency basis providing such services are within your clinical competence and such provision would not otherwise jeopardise the delivery of medicals services to patients on the practice list within the Practice boundary. Such services would attract additional remuneration or time off in lieu. The salaried practitioner’s clinical responsibilities will be at the same level as that of the partners but management responsibilities will be kept to a minimum due to salaried status. The following services are to be provided: Covering surgeries according to the agreed job plan including overlaps surgeries where necessary – see sample rota below. This will include a combination of face-to-face and telephone consultations. Duties to include a share of extended hours surgeries by rota. There will not be any Out of Hours work required. Responding to medical problems presented by patients on the practice medical list including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate. Visiting patients at home. Maintaining accurate, up to date and clear patient clinical records using the appropriate IT systems, updating problem status of medical conditions and diagnosis as necessary on a timely basis. Dealing with all related paperwork, prescriptions and results etc. Share in the triage system and allocation of duty as per the rota. Engaging in appropriate educational activity in order to maintain clinical and managerial competence and performance. Responsibility for sharing patients with other doctors in the Practice. 1 Instead of holding a full surgery (with the number of appointments reduced according to protocol) during one of your sessions you may be asked to visit one of the nursing homes to cover a ward round or to assist with the training of medical students. This may include other situations as determined by the needs of the Practice and/or Partners, to maintain appropriate access for patients and/or demands made by the relevant health authority. Establishing an appropriate system to manage common long term chronic medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes and CHD - working within the current practice guidelines and protocols. Providing appropriate preventative health care and advice within the context of primary health care. Attending primary health care team meetings and other meetings as may be necessary for your duties. Auditing practice activity and taking the lead in an appropriate clinical area. Clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of general medical services and maximising clinical and financial targets for example under the quality and outcome framework (QOF) and Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Performance (QIPP). Providing free certification in line with schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992). Non-GMS reports will be remunerated separately. Further requests may be made subject to prior discussion and within competencies. Visits to be determine by the Duty Doctor as necessary. We expect morning surgeries to start at 8.30am and afternoon surgery at 2pm. Duty Doctor’s responsibilities – normally one set day but may be extended or swapped to other days to allow for cover of GP partners when away. Remuneration & Benefits Package Salary – competitive based on skills and experience 7-9 sessions over 6 weeks annual holiday pro rata based on Agenda for Change Bank Holidays pro rata.
