Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS)
This service includes areas such as: Extended Services, Youth Services, YOT and
Connexions.
We are currently recruiting for Extended Services Cluster Coordinators who will be
responsible for working with a number of cluster schools across Medway. We will be
looking to recruit eight coordinators who will be able to give more hands on support for
schools. We will be looking for host schools to base the coordinators in to ensure schools
receive the maximum support, this will also allow for coordinators to become familiar with
the schools local communities.

Peer Mediation and Restorative Justice

A cross-phase briefing has been organised on the morning of Friday, 9th October 2009 to
make schools aware of the training opportunities for developing peer mediation and
restorative justice in school. The briefing will last around 1½ hours. The link to the school

Infant & Primary Schools - Headteachers, Children's Centre Managers and Inclusion
Managers – For Information
English as an additional language play zone project. Support to set up an EAL Parent
and Child Group with FS1/FS2
Date & Time: 2 October 2009, 9.00-12.00
Venue: Early years professional Development Centre - Bligh Way, Strood.
Target Audience: Inclusion Managers in Schools/Children’s Centres with responsibility for
co-ordinating EAL in the early years.
This is part of a package of EAL support to develop a 5 week parent partnership project with
children from FS1/FS2 who have English as an additional language. You will receive a
whole day training 27 November 2009. Two hours support from an early years inclusion
advisor and minority ethnic achievement consultant negotiated to suit your school. A range
of resources to support you with your project.
If you are interested in taking part book onto the initial course on the 2 October 2009 Setting up an EAL Parent and Child Group; a Case Study. Following this session you will
then have the opportunity to consider taking part in the EAL package of support beginning
with training on 27 November 2009.

3 sessions across the day, attendance only required at one of the 3 sessions. Bookings can

Pupils are beginning to use the functionality of learning platform to support their work both in
school and at home. This primary ICT subject leaders’ workshop will explore the use of the

Primary Language Subject Leaders Meeting
Title: Playground games as a project springboard

A reminder that the first Primary Language Subject Leaders meeting is scheduled for 5th
October 2009 and is aimed at all new and experienced Primary Language Subject Leaders.
Participants will learn world playground games, be able to set up projects to support partner
school linking and the international dimension, find out about the new MFL pages on the
Medway Local Authority (LA) Learning Hub.
