Reading
By June 2009, all elementary classrooms in the Cedar Rapids Community School District will
implement the District literacy program with integrity and fidelity as measured by classroom
walkthroughs, the administration of unit assessments and teacher self-assessments.

1.) State the goal. (use SMART format- Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Results-oriented, Target

By June 2009, all elementary classrooms in the Cedar Rapids Community School District will implement
the District literacy program with integrity and fidelity as measured by classroom walkthroughs, the
administration of unit assessments and teacher self-assessments.
2.) Describe data sources consulted and a summary analysis of the data that indicate the need for
the goal.
Trend data from multiple assessments such as LAPO, ERA, BRI, ITBS, K-assessment reveal a need for
updating the elementary reading program. To ensure consistent implementation of the new program a
district plan and smart goal was created.
3.) Identify the correlation of the stated school improvement goal to the strategic plan.
