LL11 3AW www.ysgoldyffrynial.co.uk twitter: @YsgolDyffrynIal Dear Parents/ Guardians, Annwyl Rieni/ Warcheidwad, Foundation Phase – Years 1 & 2 have been looking at a range of cooking recipes and we have identified our bossy verbs. We have made a list of ingredients to complete the recipe. In Maths we have been working on additional patterns and using symbols in our number sentences. We have started looking at a healthy diet by sorting foods on to the food wheel. Nursery & Reception have started to learn 3 new songs: “Clychau Santa Clos”, “Robin Goch” and “Titw Tomos Las”. We have been looking at where food comes from and sorting by animals and plants. KS2 – Please can those pupils taking part in ‘New Dance’ at Llangollen pavilion bring their costumes in on Monday for their lesson in preparation for Thursday's performance. In science we have been finding out how and why shadows are formed. We have found out which opaque objects don’t let light through and we have been learning what opaque, transparent and translucent means. In maths year 3 have been counting on to 100, year 4 have been concentrating on subtraction, year 5 have looked at improper fractions and year 6 have been converting fractions in to decimals. This week’s homework is to login to R M Easimaths. Tempest Photography – Your photograph orders must be returned to school by Monday 30th November (this saves you P&P) to ensure delivery before Christmas. Communication To School – We request that all email communication to school be sent to the school’s email address dyffryn.ial@denbighshire.gov.uk . This email is accessed by more than one member of staff throughout the day and we can be sure of not missing vital and important messages from our parents. Thank you for your co-operation with this. Attendance - Punctuality is important and pupils need to start the school day on time at 9.00 am. The classroom doors are locked after the bell goes at 9.00 am. Any pupil arriving after that time must be come to the main school entrance. Late marks are given for lateness as we follow Denbighshire C. C. ‘s policy. Poppy Appeal – The school has received a thank you from the Ruthin & District British Legion for raising £84.22 for this year’s appeal. Dates for your December Diary (additional details will be provided nearer the time of each event). It is a busy time so please note these dates – 3rd Thursday – ‘New Dance’ for KS2 pupils at Llangollen Pavilion. 6th Sunday– Brunch with Santa and Christmas Stalls at 11.15 pm in Memorial Hall, Llandegla 8th Tuesday – “Cinderella” Pantomine at Theatre Clwyd for full time pupils – No Nursery session this day 9th Wednesday – School concert “Christmas Is Forever” at 1.30pm and 6.30 pm in the Memorial Hall, Llandegla. 15th Tuesday – Christmas dinner for full time pupils, usual cost of £1.90. 16th Wednesday – Christmas Service at St Tecla’s Church, Llandegla at 2.00 pm 18th Friday – Christmas Party in the afternoon for all our pupils St Tecla’s Church Christmas Card Competition – Every pupil worked hard on their Christmas card entry. We are delighted to announce the winners that have been chosen by the PCC with the 1st prize winners receiving £15, 2nd prize £10 and 3rd prize £5. Foundation Phase: 1st Lilly Hinks, 2nd Hannah Hinks, 3rd India Rose Livingston. KS2: 1st Joel Perrin, 2nd William Valentine, 3rd Huw Thompson. Scholastic Book Club – The Christmas Brochure has been sent home with each pupil. Thank you for the orders already received. It’s worth a look as prices are competitive. Order through school to save P & P and school gets 20%. Send your order form with payment to school by 1st December to ensure delivery before the end of term. Thank you to all our supporters. Thank You For: Your support at the St Tecla’s Church Pre-Christmas Fair last Saturday. The PTA stall made a profit of £159.00. All your sacks which have been collected by Clothes Buyers. We will advise you next week how much they have raised. All the chocolate items brought to school today which will help the tombola stall be a huge success. All your pudding orders which we hope you enjoy. ‘Brunch With Santa and Christmas Stalls’ – it’s ok to turn up on the day, just bring your Santa letter or come at 12.00 to look around the stalls – Free admission. Sunday 6th December in the Memorial Hall, Llandegla starting at 11.15 am with Santa arriving at 11.30 am. Tickets are £5.00 per child to include brunch (sausage, egg, beans, hash browns with apple or orange juice) and a gift from Santa in his grotto or £2.50 without the brunch. 12.00 noon onwards refreshments for adults will be available: sausage/bacon bap and tea/coffee for £3.50 or just a drink for £1.00. 12.00 noon onwards Christmas stalls. You can just come along to enjoy the stalls. There will be “Simmi” ladies fashions and gifts, “Woolley Wonders”, “Uni an Jac”, chocolate tombola, reindeer food, Aunty Joy Christmas food, raffle and games COMMUNITY EVENTS: Ruthin Rotary’s Santa’s Float – Santa will be visiting both our communities on 1st December. Approx times of arrival are: Bryneglwys 5.30 pm and Llandegla 6.15 pm. Festival of Christmas Trees in St Tysilio’s Church, Bryneglwys – We are delighted that there will be a tree on display created by our Foundation Phase pupils. The church will be open as follows: Friday 27th November 11.30 am to 3.30 pm, Saturday 28th November 12.00 am to 5.00 pm, Sunday 29th November 11.00 am to 2.00 pm Refreshments will be available throughout the festival in the Parish Room, Bryneglwys.
