Child Nutrition Services Newsletter
2015-16 School Year
Dear Parent/Guardian:
The Northport School District Child Nutrition Services welcomes you to the 2015-16 school year. This newsletter includes beneficial
information for all families in our district. Our meals are planned to meet national meal standards. Our weekly meals are balanced to
provide calories based on grade levels with a focus on whole grains, and a variety of fruits and vegetables, lower in sodium and low in
saturated fat. We introduce new items throughout the year to give your child the opportunity to try new foods at school. We believe in
making right food choices together! Our breakfast program is available in both our schools. Breakfast is essential to children starting
school ready to learn. School breakfast is a low cost easy way to provide children with fuel for their brains! Our breakfasts have a
variety of choices full of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, protein and milk. Monthly menus can be viewed on our website at
www.northportschools.org.
Please read through the following sections for information pertaining to your family.
PAYING FOR STUDENT MEALS: Meal charging is not allowed at the middle and high school levels. At the elementary school level,
the charge limit is equal to the current dollar amount of two paid lunches.
Our Skyward program is a debit program. Students will need to deposit money prior to using their account. Northport School District
provides a simple and convenient way for you to deposit money on your child’s meal account using a credit or debit card. Please use
the RevTrak Online Payment link located on our website under Food Service, and the deposit will be credited to your child’s meal
account. As well, payments may be made at the high school office. Please place a check or money in an envelope with your students
name and bring it to the office.
