Limbrick, M.D., Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery Overview of the St. Louis Children’s Hospital/Washington University Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship Program For The Domestic and International Traveling Fellowships In Pediatric Neurosurgery The pediatric neurosurgery program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital functions within the Department of Neurosurgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. The program is known both for its busy clinical pediatric neurosurgery practice and for its comprehensive array of pediatric neurosurgical procedures. The case volume and variety provides fellows with high-level training in pediatric neuro-oncology, pediatric spine surgery, epilepsy surgery, craniofacial surgery, intracranial endoscopy, spastic cerebral palsy, dystonia, radiosurgery, brachial plexus surgery, spinal dysraphism, and various other facets of the pediatric neurosurgery. The operative suites are equipped with latest in neurosurgical technology including Stealth frameless neuronavigation systems (both optical and pinless RF capability), intraoperative microscopes, flexible and rigid neuro-endoscopy equipment, intraoperative MRI, and dedicated neurosurgery nursing team for elective cases as well as major cases after hours. The comprehensive breath and volume of operative exposure allows fellows to concentrate on subspecialization if so desired. A wide variety of clinical research opportunities are also available, enabling fellows to simultaneously build their research skills and experience and in parallel with their clinical interests and exposure.
