HINGHAM SURGERY PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP Minutes Of The Meeting Held On Tuesday, 13th October 2015 At Hingham Surgery, 6pm. Present: Eileen Davis (Chair), Malcolm Southgate (Vice-Chair), Corah Carney (Secretary), Frank Davis, Sue Bell, David Trollope, Susan Abbot, Geoffrey Young, Linda Langridge, Ann Denman, Kathy Batten, Caroline Boyce & Nicola Cogman (staff). 1. WELCOME & APOLOGIES Eileen welcomed members to the meeting and introduced new members, Kathy and Caroline. Apologies for absence were received from Jan Southgate (Treasurer). 2. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING The minutes of the previous meeting held on 11th August 2015 were reviewed and agreed. 3. MATTERS ARISING & UPDATES a) Carer’s Group: Ann told that the Carer’s group had a new person attend the last meeting. She felt it was worth continuing as those who attend do find it useful. Manor Court Services had offered to speak to the Carer’s group about their services. Ann to contact to arrange. b) Step out for Health Walks: Linda reported that 3 walkers had attended the last walk. There was one walk left before the winter break. Linda asked for a back-up person to assist her if possible. c) Sound System: Malcolm told that Adcocks in Watton had quoted circa £350 to install a sound system. Linda had received a quote of circa £1,200 from Hughes. Malcolm was still making enquiries and will report back to the PPG. d) BP Machine: Jace had the BP machine checked by the Practice Nurse and it was found to be accurate. If the machine is not used correctly, this can lead to an incorrect reading, ie if the arm is not placed into the cuff correctly. 4. TREASURER’S REPORT The current balance was £543.85. 5. PATIENT SURVEY 2015 Corah gave a full presentation of the results of the Patient Survey 2015. The survey this year focussed on two main attributes; how responsive and how caring the Practice is. The aim of the survey was ‘to determine if the level of care received from the Surgery meets the expectations of the patients’. Below is a summary of the results: Demographics Surveys were distributed during the week of 20th July 2015. 454 surveys were returned. There was representation from every age group and each patient group. 56% said they had a long-term health condition & 14% had a mental health condition. 40% of respondents were retired and 39% were employed. Page 1 Responsiveness 92% of pts were ‘always’ or ‘usually’ able to make appointments at times suitable for them. 98% felt that the survey was ‘very good’ or ‘good’ at responding to their needs. Caring 99% felt the Surgery was ‘very good’ or ‘good’ at listening to their needs, 96% felt the Surgery was ‘very good’ or ‘good’ at involving them in their care, 95% felt the Surgery was ‘very good’ or ‘good’ at helping them to manage their own health. Expectations 99% of patients felt the care received from the Practice ‘met’ or ‘exceeded’ their expectations. Cross-Analysis There were no significant differences found between gender, age and current situation and patients’ expectations being met or exceeded. Any Other Comments 90% of the comments were positive. The topics most frequently mentioned were: The care received, the staff, The Doctors, The Surgery generally. The words most frequently mentioned were: Helpful, excellent, very good, friendly. Suggestions: More early morning blood tests available (this is being addressed). Conclusion: Hingham Surgery meets and indeed exceeds the expectations of the patients, It is a responsive and caring practice, There were many positive comments about the overall service and care received The PPG would like to commend the Practice on the excellent results.
