Annual memberships are available at several different levels. You may also take an active part in Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful by volunteering to work in one or more of the areas in which you are most interested. Keep Nacogdoches Beautiful County-wide Programs Tree Nursery Over 12,000 trees are being grown (location: City Landfill) for planting in public places throughout the county. Trees are provided free for Make A Difference Day projects, for all schools participating in the Arbor Day Poster contest, the Neighborwoods program and many other projects throughout the County. Nacogdoches Arbor Day 2nd week in February. Planting trees in the community to promote early spring as a time for planting. Gateway Beautification An on-going project with community leaders to improve the entryways to Nacogdoches. Arbor Day Poster Contest Nine Flags Christmas Festival Please choose a membership level: Every 5th grade class in Nacogdoches County is invited to participate in this environmental education program which includes a Project Learning Tree Lesson, and poster contest materials. The county-wide winner receives a week at SFA Art Camp or Environmental Camp as first prize. Free t-shirts are given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners from each school and a reception and poster viewing takes place on National Arbor Day each year. Annual event held the second weekend in December each year - KNB supports this activity as a Litter-Free Event. Annual Donation Neighborwoods A joint KNB and Texas Forest Service program that provides street trees for homeowners in an effort to reforest neighborhoods in Nacogdoches. Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-Off First Saturday in April every year. Community groups and individuals come together for this one day, state-wide litter clean-up along our road sides, parks and creeks. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIPS Blueberry Festival Second weekend in June. KNB does Litter clean-up promoting this as a litter-free event. Scare on the Square Electronic Waste Recycling Events A service provided by KNB to provide electronic recycling to city and county residents, free of charge. Forest Awareness Tour KNB helps to sponsor this Texas Forest Service event. 5th grade students from Nacogdoches County meet at the Experimental Forest for educational programs. Nac Blooms Fund-raiser (September & October) that generates donations of bulbs for County-wide beautification efforts. Make A Difference Day This is a nationally-recognized program that takes place in October that promotes spending a day making a difference in your community. Some KNB projects include: beautification projects (planting bulbs in public areas), litter clean-up on roadsides and highways, park clean-ups and helping the elderly and disabled with homeowner projects. Community Landscape Leadership Awards Student (through college)........ $5 Individual.................................. $10 Family...................................... $25 CIVIC GROUP / BUSINESS Held in Ocotober. KNB picks up litter and provides trash receptacles promoting this as a litter-free event. Litter Survey Using a score sheet, KNB volunteers drive through designated parts of the city and county rating the amount of trash seen near the roads. This data is used to improve anti-litter programs and are designated for litter clean-ups during the Trash-off in April.
