Expectations/Procedures for Mrs. Bunting’s Classes 1. Respect: This is my #1 rule. I believe if everyone has respect then everything else will fall into place. *Respect for yourself- always do your best, believe in yourself, don’t put yourself down, don’t hurt yourself physically or emotionally. *Respect for others- be quiet while someone else is talking, treat others the way you would want to be treated. *Respect for property- stay away from things that aren’t yours (example: other students’ backpacks/purses, things on the teacher’s desk), pick up after yourselfdon’t leave trash in Mrs. Bunting’s room or on campus or anywhere else. 2. You will receive three hall passes per six weeks. These may be used for the restroom, library, or office. Once they are used, lost, or stolen you will not be allowed to leave the room. If you ever need to go to the nurse I will give you a separate nurse’s pass. If you will need to go to the nurse on a daily basis (for medication, etc.) you can show me your green nurse’s pass that you should get at the beginning of the year. Note: You may earn up to two hall passes by bringing in Box Tops for Education. 5 box tops= one hall pass Note: It is your responsibility to ask to leave the room at an appropriate time during class. (We will discuss and demonstrate these times in detail so that you know ahead of time when it is appropriate or inappropriate to ask.) 3. YOU are responsible for asking for your makeup work when you are absent. If you are absent and you are not sure when your makeup work is due, it is your responsibility to ask. (Note: see new BISD late work policy) 4. I do not typically give homework. As long as you are working in class you should not have homework more than once or twice this year. However, if you are absent or if you do not complete your work in class then your makeup work or incomplete work from class will need to be completed at home. Also, if you fall behind in class then you may need to do work at home to catch up. IMPORTANT NOTE: Mrs. Bunting reserves the right to give homework if necessary throughout the year. 5. Tutorials- Tutorials take place before school from 8-8:25a.m. and after school from 3:50-4:30. If you need to come in for tutorials please let me know ahead of time so that I can make arrangements to be here. I have duty some days so we will need to plan around that. Please do not hesitate to come to me with questions or concerns. 6. Grades- You will have daily grades (40%) and test grades (60%). Any essays or projects are counted as test grades. I do not drop your lowest grade. It is your responsibility to keep up with your grades. Do not come to me the last day of a six week period and expect to do something about a low grade. Ask for help if/when you need it and don’t wait until the last minute to get help. You are expected to do your work and do your best at all times. I will help you in any way that I can as long as I can see that you are trying your best and taking responsibility for your work. 7. Extra Credit- Extra points will be given at the end of each six weeks if they are earned as a class. Extra points will depend on class participation. In other words- if your class wants extra points you must all work as a team in order to earn those points. If everyone participates in class (meaning they do their work, ask/answer questions when necessary, etc.) then the entire class will earn points at different times throughout the six week period. At the end I will give the number of points earned to each student where they need it the most. (example: low test grade) In this way, you can all help each other. No student suffers because your grade is not lowered if someone does not participate, BUT if everyone does participate then you can all benefit from that. Therefore, it will be important for you to support each other at all times. (This goes along with respect.) 8. A little bit about my discipline philosophy: (please see item # 1 ) By the time the first week is over you will know exactly what I expect of you in many different situations. We will discuss and role play/practice what respect looks like and what it does not look like. If you need more explanation at any time it is your responsibility to ask. If there are problems or issues throughout the year (example: talking back to Mrs. Bunting, off task/not working, name calling, talking out without permission, horseplay, etc.- notice ALL of these things have to do with respect) then there are consequences that you can be sure of and I have listed them below: a. Redirect b. Student conference c. Time after class d. Parent contact e. Detention f.
