I understand that if my child does not attend lessons or if I cancel before the end of the academic year I am still liable for the full annual cost of the lessons. At Saddleworth School your child may learn to play a musical instrument (including singing). Lessons are 30 minutes long and operate on a rota basis throughout the school day. 2. The school is required to employ all peripatetic tutors for the full academic year. Therefore Pupil commitment for music tuition must cover the full school year and a Parent/School agreement is signed prior to commencement of lessons. 3. Discount of fees: You may be eligible to discounted fees if: your child is currently eligible for free school meals or you have claimed free school meals at any time in the last six years your child has been under public care or been a looked after child Please contact Mrs Richards at school for further information or to see if you are eligible for a discount. 4. It is school policy that notice of lesson cancellation for the forthcoming academic year must be received by 21st March, in writing to the Music Department. 5. The Department guarantees a minimum of 35 lessons per academic year (preferably at least 10 per term). 6. It is advised that privately owned instruments are insured by parents/carers, as the school cannot take responsibility for these instruments whilst they are on the school premises. 7. Lyceum instruments should be similarly insured as once they leave the Lyceum premises they are the responsibility of the students. 8. Students that are consistently absent from lessons, following encouragement and support from staff and home, will be given notice that tuition will not be permitted in future years in order to make time available for other students on the waiting list. 9. Students are encouraged to take examinations at the discretion of their teachers but there is no obligation to take examinations. 10. All music needed and any examination fees required must be funded by parents/carers. 11. Students who receive instrumental tuition at school are expected to participate in extra musical activities and are therefore expected to take part in the Christmas and Summer Concerts, as well as Festivals/Competitions.
