IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT INSTRUMENTAL TUITION
Please read the following:
1. At Saddleworth School your child may learn to play a musical instrument (including singing). Lessons are 30
minutes long and operate on a rota basis throughout the school day.
2. The school is required to employ all peripatetic tutors for the full academic year. Therefore Pupil commitment for
music tuition must cover the full school year and a Parent/School agreement is signed prior to commencement of
lessons.
3. Lesson Fees are:
£240 per annum (minimum group size 4), payable in three equal instalments as
follows:Autumn Term
Spring Term
Summer Term
£80.00 due on or before 26 September 2014
£80.00 due on or before 23 January 2015
£80.00 due on or before 22 May 2015
Please do not send cash or cheques to school. For convenience payments can be
made through our on-line facility via ParentPay or at any local shop displaying the

Fees will remain due even if lessons are missed or cancelled.
Discount of fees: You may be eligible to discounted fees if:
 your child is currently eligible for free school meals or you have claimed free school meals at
any time in the last six years
 your child has been under public care or been a looked after child
Please contact Mrs Richards at school for further information or to see if you are eligible for a
discount.
4. It is school policy that notice of lesson cancellation for the forthcoming academic year must be received by 21st
March, in writing to the Music Department.
5. The Department guarantees a minimum of 35 lessons per academic year (preferably at least 10 per term).
6. It is advised that privately owned instruments are insured by parents/carers, as the school cannot take
responsibility for these instruments whilst they are on the school premises.
7. Lyceum instruments should be similarly insured as once they leave the Lyceum premises they are the
responsibility of the students.
8. Students that are consistently absent from lessons, following encouragement and support from staff and home,
will be given notice that tuition will not be permitted in future years in order to make time available for other students
on the waiting list.
9. Students are encouraged to take examinations at the discretion of their teachers but there is no obligation to take
examinations.
10. All music needed and any examination fees required must be funded by parents/carers.
11. Students who receive instrumental tuition at school are expected to participate in extra musical activities and are
therefore expected to take part in the Christmas and Summer Concerts, as well as Festivals/Competitions.
