CLASSROOM AGREEMENT: An important goal is this business course is to learn to be prepared to work in the business world. To begin this learning process I will agree to follow the rules listed below: I will call Mrs. Harvey--Mrs. Harvey. Not Miss. I intend to remember her name. I will not chew gum in Mrs. Harvey’s class. Chewing gum is unprofessional because it looks and sounds bad in the business world. I will not eat or bring any food or beverage of any kind into Mrs. Harvey’s classroom. Page 20 in the Student Handbook states: “any liquid (legal beverage) brought to school may not be consumed except during lunch. The liquid must be placed in the locker directly upon arrival at school.” Also page 27 states: “Food is not to be taken outside the cafeteria.” Mrs. Harvey will never see any food or beverage I may have in my possession, or I will throw it into the trash. I will arrive to class on time each day. On time means: I will personally be inside the classroom when the late bell rings—not just my books or book bag. If the door is closed, I am late. Detentions for tardies will be assigned as stated on page 21 of the Students Handbook. My cell phone will never be visible. According to pages 21 and 24 in the Student Handbook I may have a cell phone with me in my book bag or purse but it is not allowed to be visible or on during school hours. This also means I cannot wear it on my belt or waist. I realize if my cell phone becomes visible or rings during class, Mrs. Harvey will take it away from me and my parent or guardian will have to come into Mrs. Harvey’s classroom to retrieve it. My walkman and headphones will never be visible because they are not allowed in school during school hours as stated in the Student Handbook on pages 21 and 24. I realize if I do not have my own Agenda Planner with me during class, I will not be allowed out the classroom under any circumstances. I will be prepared for class each day. I will follow ALL directions when first given. I will not use any profanity under any circumstances. Use of profanity is still frowned upon in any business setting and will result in disciplinary action according to page 21 of handbook. I will come to class prepared with my textbook, (COVERED) workbook, calculator, and pencil. I will use a pencil for ALL work I do in and out of this class. I realize I will receive a zero for homework done in pen, even if it is correct and complete. I realize I will have 10 points deducted from any test I do in pen. I will not ask to borrow a pencil, book, or calculator from Mrs. Harvey. I may purchase a pencil from Mrs. Harvey for $.10 and/or a calculator for $5.00. I will not borrow books from Mrs. Harvey as she has none to lend. I will be responsible for my actions and for my grades. I will adhere to the MHS dress code. We are all judged by how we dress and look. I want to make a good lasting impression which will carry over to the work world. I will treat everyone in class, including Mrs. Harvey with respect. I will not use the computer at any time during class. Keyboard and mouse are to remain to the right of the computer at all times. Computers are to be left shut off at all times. I will remain seated until the bell rings to end class. I will not wait at the door for the bell to ring. I will push in my chair and straighten out my desk area before I leave class each day. I will check the assignments on the white board that I missed if I am absent. I will make an appointment after school to make up any tests or quizzes I miss if I am absent. I realize I will be expected to clean this classroom once a month. It is important to learn to keep our areas clean wherever we work. If we don’t do it, no one will. We take pride in our business education department. I will follow fire drill code of conduct during a fire drill. I realize if I do not follow any of the above rules, I will receive a zero work ethic grade for the day. Otherwise, I will receive a 100 for the day. This grade will be averaged with every work ethic grade I receive each day for the entire term. My work ethic grade is 20 percent of my final grade. I will also suffer the disciplinary consequences set by the student handbook and Mr. Sullivan and Mrs. Piela. I have read and been read and understand and agree to adhere to all of the above rules.
