ELEMENTARY PARENT PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT 2011-2012 You have chosen to become a member of a unique, high quality educational program. In order to offer the Marysville Cooperative Education Partnership (MCEP) students an enriched curriculum, each family involved in the MCEP agrees to the following: PARTICIPATION COMMITMENT It is the responsibility of every family to fill a time spot in each of their children’s classrooms on a regular and consistent basis. This may be done by a parent, a relative, or a sponsor. Regular and consistent is 2 ½ hours per child per week, or a teacherapproved addendum to the Parent Participation Agreement. 1. Parent Participation Agreement: Each family must have a completed PPA on file before classroom participation. Absences resulting from the failure to complete the PPA will be unexcused, and the parent is responsible to make up the missed classroom time. 2. Classroom Time: This time commitment will primarily be spent as scheduled participation in their individual child(ren’s) classroom or preparation of projects/curriculum materials, at the discretion of the teacher. 3. Field Trips: Each family is required to participate on at least two field trips per year per child. The financial needs of the Co-op, field trips, for example, are funded solely from parental support. Parents are asked to donate $10 per child enrolled in the Co-op each month in which school is in session. 4. Committees: Each family participates on one committee per child’s classroom of the MCEP. Refer to Policy and Procedures for committee information. 5. Membership Meetings: Attendance is mandatory at all Membership Meetings, which are held the second Thursday of each month, from 6:30 until no later than 8:00pm. Parents are required to attend at least six of the eight monthly Membership Meetings. If unable to attend a meeting, parents are asked to notify the Parent Coordinator prior to the meeting. NON-COMPLIANCE 1. In-class Participants: Missing a scheduled day in the classroom is a serious breach of the commitment parents make to the MCEP. Parents are responsible to make every effort to find a substitute to fulfill the classroom time. a. If one unexcused* absence occurs, the Parent Coordinator will contact the parent to arrange a time to make up the missed classroom time. b. If a second unexcused* absence occurs, the Parent Coordinator Team Leader will send a letter to the family to convey the importance of consistent classroom attendance, and to arrange a time to make up the missed time. c. If a third unexcused* absence occurs, the documents are reviewed by the Co-chairs and the PC Team Leader to confirm the non-compliance of the family. The Co-chairs will schedule a meeting with the parent to discuss the family’s possible removal from the MCEP. d. *Unexcused is defined as no prior notification or arrangement made with the Parent Coordinator or teacher. 2. Out-of-class Participants: Out-of-class participants are held to the same accountability as classroom parents. Out-ofclass participants will be reviewed each trimester by the PC Team Leader. If an Out-of-class participant is found to be non-compliant, the PC Team Leader will contact the family to reiterate the importance of their obligation to the teacher and the classroom. 3. Field Trips, Committee Work, and Membership Meetings: Failing to fulfill the requirements of field trip participation, classroom committee(s) participation, and Membership Meeting attendance affects the integrity of the program. If a family is out of compliance in any of these areas, a meeting will be scheduled with the Co-chairs prior to placement for the next school year. Non-compliance of these areas is defined as the following: a. Three (3) or more absences from Membership Meetings, and/or b. Failure to participate in a minimum of 2 field trips, and/or c. Non-participation on a committee (as determined by the teacher). TERMINATION A family may be terminated from the program for the following reasons: 1. Failure to fulfill the participation commitment as outlined above. 2. If the Marysville School District deems it necessary to remove a family from the school as outlined in its policies and procedures, membership in the MCEP is automatically terminated. By signing the Parent Participation Agreement, I am obligating my family to fulfill all of the terms presented above. I have read and understand what it means to be a member family of MCEP, and I realize that non-compliance in any area may lead to removal from the program. My signature gives me the right to vote on general action items and Council positions. If a spouse or another adult will be an active participant of MCEP, regularly serving in the classroom, attending meetings, and/or serving on committees, he/she may request an additional Parent Participation Agreement from the appropriate Parent Coordinator. Occasional service does not require a signature.
