Page 1 of 3 The Real Food Lunch Club is at Jackman! Real Food for Real Kids™ (RFRK) is excited to be continuing with the Real Food Lunch Club at Jackman! The 2010-2011 Lunch Club is currently on! What is Real Food for Real Kids? RFRK is the all-natural, fresh-from-scratch catering company for childcare centres, schools, and camps in the GTA. Every day we cook and deliver delicious meals and snacks to thousands of children, with the goal of instilling life-long healthy eating habits in the kids we nourish. We know that a healthy, hot lunch made fresh-from-scratch with local, natural ingredients is exactly what our kids need to keep them energized and ready to learn! For more information about menus, pricing, and to learn more about who we are and what we do, visit www.rfrk.com. When does the Lunch Club start at Jackman? The Real Food Lunch Club runs every Monday and Friday up to and including Monday, June 27th, 2011 (excluding school holidays). To view our Omnivore and Herbivore menus you can take a look at the flipbook of RFRK information in the office at Jackman, or view our menus via online registration: www.rfrk.com How does the Lunch Club work? Every Monday and Friday, parents send a reusable/resealable dish, cutlery, and drink with their child to school. You can purchase an excellent stainless, steel snap-lid lunchware directly through RFRK. The Lunch Club Coach will ensure that all the kids have enough to eat and will encourage children to try new foods that they may not have tasted before. Discovery is an important part of the Real Food Lunch Club! Children pack their reusable lunchware to take home, and head out to recess. Simple! Your child will bring home their reusable lunchware to be washed and returned to school on the next Lunch Club day. What is the Value Meal? To help make nutritious food accessible to everyone, the TDSB requires that caterers provide one ultra low cost, complete meal option for $4.00. The true cost of locally sourced, sustainably produced, allnatural and organic food makes this price a real challenge. We put our thinking caps on and devised a simple solution, which we call our 41 Dovercourt Rd. Toronto, ON M6J 3C2 Tel: 416 410 KIDS (5437) Fax: 416 534 0948 www.rfrk.com Page 2 of 3 “Value Meal”. Every child in the Real Food Lunch Club enjoys the same vegetable, fresh fruit and grain. Kids enrolled in the Omnivore and Herbivore plans receive a variety of delicious protein dishes on a 20 day rotating cycle. Kids choosing the Value Meal are able to choose between just two protein options – a meat chili and a vegetarian chili. Unlike other caterers, RFRK would never sacrifice food quality to reduce costs. We decided that reducing variety was the healthier way to go! My child has allergies – can they still participate? Food allergies are no reason to miss out! The Real Food Kitchen is a peanut and tree nut free facility, and our unparalleled allergensubstitution program helps us ensure that every child has access to real food. If your child has anaphylactic allergies, please contact Real Food for Real Kids directly to discuss your options. This sounds great! What do I need to do? Discuss the Real Food Lunch Club with your child. Get them excited about eating a lunch that’s delicious and healthy for them and their environment! Decide which menu option (Omnivore or Herbivore) will best suit your child. Register online at http://www.rfrk.com/catering/schools/list/ Remember to send your child with their reusable lunchware, cutlery, and a healthy drink on Lunch Club days (we recommend filtered water sent in a stainless steel bottle). What if my child will be absent on a Real Food Lunch Club day? If your child will miss a Real Food lunch, you must provide RFRK 5 full business days advance notice and you will receive a credit for the missed lunch. Credits may either be applied to your account and deducted from future payments, or you can choose to donate your credit to ‘Real Food Forward’ (RFF). RFF uses your credits to provide free lunches for children in need at your school and other Real Food Lunch Clubs in the GTA. What if I find the program is just not working for my child? As a first step, please contact us at Real Food for Real Kids to discuss the issue so that we can work with you to try to find a solution. We strongly encourage participation in the program for a minimum of 4 weeks, allowing your child time to taste every item on the menu, develop a familiarity for new foods and allow positive peer pressure to run its course. If you still find the program is not a good 41 Dovercourt Rd.
