We are delighted by the many achievements of our students from Year 7 to 11 and the developing pride they have in their own and in others’ successes. We know that this pride is encouraged by the interest that you, as parents, take in our work. I am grateful to so many of you who have attended recent meetings to look at ways in which we can develop and improve our students’ experience and a leaflet updating you on our actions to date is enclosed. Emergency Closures We have been very lucky with the weather so far. Long may this last! Please remember that, should school be forced to close due to heavy snow, parents can be kept up to date about school closures via our website, Facebook/ Twitter pages and via the text messaging service we provide to mobile telephones. The texting service is ESCC approved and totally secure. If you haven’t already done so this term, please specify on the reply slip provided whether you permit your child to leave college on his/ her own in the event of such a closure. We thank you for your support in ensuring that our students take attendance and punctuality seriously. As you know, we can only condone planned absence in term time in very rare circumstances. Should you wish to request permission for your child to be absent from school, please write to me explaining the circumstances.
