You should have had a letter home asking if you can help. If we do not have the correct adult:child ratio then we may need to cancel. If you can help, please return the slip or call the office to let us know. Please be reminded that children will not be permitted to walk home alone and should be collected by an adult. Family Night Thursday 4th December 6.00 – 7.30 pm. Keep this date free in your diary and look out for more information that will be sent home soon. Children In Need Pudsey Bear is coming to visit Rimbleton in the morning of Wednesday 12th November. It is hoped that he will visit the playground from 8.30 onwards if parents would like to take a photo of their child with Pudsey. Children are invited to have a ‘dress down day’ and bring a donation for Children In Need to give to Pudsey as he visits each class. Merchandise is also available to sale at the main office. These include children’s wristbands for £1 and Pudsey and Blush ears and possibly some key rings for £2.50 Achievements outwith Rimbleton I was extremely proud of Holly, Emily and Abbie (P7) who represented Rimbleton Primary at the Walk For Peace at Glenrothes High School on Thursday 6th November. They spoke with confidence as they shared their poems based on World War 1. Thank you to Miss Wilson and Mr Rose for their work in preparing the pupils for this and for the staff, pupils and parents who came along to this event on a very wet evening. Congratulations to Logan Harley who won medals while participating in a recent swimming competition. What a fantastic achievement! If any other children have anything they would like to share then please ask them to bring their achievement to me so we can add these to our Achievement wall. Jimmy, Taylor, Dylan and Derie (P6 and P7) have created some amazing sculptures as part of work they were selected to do with the Children’s Parliament. They joined pupils from Kinglassie Primary and Caskieberran Primary for a week of team building activities. Staff will soon be taking part in training from Children’s Parliament which will build on the work that the school has been doing on ‘rights and responsibilities.’ It is hoped that all 12 children from the schools will be able to share their work at an assembly in each school. Well done to all involved. I will put some photos on the school website to show how amazing they are. Shoebox Appeal Children will have had information shared with them about the Rotary Shoebox Appeal. All classes and the nursery are doing shoeboxes for boys and girls of their equivalent age except P7 who are doing shoeboxes for the elderly. We have been asked that there should be nothing containing batteries or any food and drink. A pound coin is to be taped on each box to pay for postage. Examples of items include: soap, deodorant, stationary, small toy, gloves, cleaning wipes, plasters, scarf, socks, bubbles, wind up torch, brush, hair clips, facecloth, hat, anti-bacterial wipes. The destination of boxes include Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine. More information can be found at www.rotaryshoebox.org or www.facebook.com/rotaryshoeboxscheme Celebrating Christmas at Rimbleton We have decided to have 2 Christmas performances in our school hall which will enable parents to come and watch the show and visit our Christmas Stalls afterwards. The show will be based around the P1 nativity with each class making a contribution throughout the performance. Shows will be in the morning of Tuesday 16th December at 9.45 pm and the afternoon of Wednesday 17th December at 1.45 pm. More information will be sent home soon. This does not mean that we will not be visiting St Columba’s Church on Thursday 18th December. We are still very much looking forward to this and have spoken with Rev. Kimmit about having a Carol Service in the church at 9.30. Parking Please be reminded that no cars should park on the yellow lines outside the school and access to the school car park is for staff, parents who require disabled access and taxis for those children coming to school. Care should also be taken not to block the driveways of residents. This includes groups of parents who may be standing talking on the pavements outside the school or at access to drives. This can make it difficult for parents with buggies to pass and can often mean that children have to step out onto the road to get past. The safety of our children is very important. Pupilwise and Parentwise Surveys Jacqueline Price, Education Officer has asked that we let all parents and carers know about the Pupilwise and Parentwise surveys that are about to take place. These surveys were first developed in 2012 to help children and parents share their views on their schools and nurseries. The survey can be easily accessed from home, the public library or the school if there is no internet access from home. Paper copies of the survey can also be made available on request from the school office. The Parentwise survey can be accessed using the following link www.fifedirect.org.uk/parentwise anytime from Monday 10th November until Friday 19th December 2014. The pupil survey will be completed in school/nursery. The list of survey questions can be provided from the school office if you would like to see them and I will also put information on the school website. If any parent does not wish their child/ren to take part in the survey, please let the school/nursery know before the 10th November 2014.
