These classes will increase kitchen proficiency and creativity and inspire a holistic approach in the kitchen. MAGIC – Monday Grades 1-6 Jan 5 – Mar 2 (No class Feb 16) PRICE: $140.00 Magician ‘Baldini’ is set to bring his educational science magic program to Summit Heights. ‘Baldini’ will teach how to perform a number of NEW exciting and easy to learn illusions in a fun, supportive and magically interactive environment. He will also explain how magicians make use of science to help create these magical effects. Jan 8 – Feb 26 CHESS - Thursday Grades 1-6 PRICE: $110.00 The 29-year old Chess'n Math Association (CMA) is a Canada-wide, non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the game of chess into elementary schools. A number of studies hav shown chess to improve children’s quality of life, mathematical skills and intelligence. Using a carefully developed, 9level instructional program, CMA teaches chess in schools to over 10,000 youngsters per week all over Canada. MAD SCIENCE – Tuesday Grades 1-6 Jan 6 – Feb 24 PRICE: $130.00 In the World or Wowology children will learn all about the science of flight and the forces that are involved in the process. Their reasoning skills will be put to the test as they become Junior Engineers, building and testing magnificent structures. The amazing properties of water will be explored in a class called Wacky Waves, which is always a "splashing" success. Amy’s back to show students how to make amazing winter crafts out of decorated duct tape. CLAPBOARD FILM – Tuesday Grades 3-6 Jan 6 – Feb 24 PRICE: $150.00 In this series of hands-on workshops, children work together through the different stages of filmmaking, from the creation of an original script through to the planning and shooting of their very own short film! Each participant will receive a copy of the finished film on DVD to share with friends and family. IN THE MIX – Thursday Grades 1-6 Jan 8 – Feb 26 PRICE: $150.00 In the Mix is an innovative program that provides an opportunity for children to explore what’s new in hip-hop, music and internet technology. Students will learn a brief hip-hop routine and will then work collaboratively in small groups to create one-of-a-kind music videos, using iPads supplied by In the Mix. At the end of the session, students can securely view and comment upon their videos at the In the Mix website. POP STARS – Tuesday Grades 4-6 Jan 6 – Feb 24 PRICE: $150.00 Michelle Newman is the vocal producer of the Mini Pop Kids as well as an in demand Voice Coach in the GTA. Michelle will lead students through an interactive, high energy program bringing out everyone's inner Popstar. This program, open to students of any musical skill level, will explore weekly themes, and students will end the program with CD's and MP3s of their own recordings. POP STARS JR. – Friday Grades 1-3 Jan 9 – March 13 (No classes Jan 23, Feb 13) PRICE: $150.00 Mashups, Harmonies, group and solo singing are just some of the exciting topics that Pop Stars Jr. will explore. Vocal Coach Michelle Newman will take students on a musical adventure every week. This class will uncover each student’s love for singing and performing, focusing on all different genres of music and recording a term-end concert for students’ families to watch and enjoy at home! This class is open to students of all skill levels. CARTOONING – Monday Grades 1-6 Jan 5 – Mar 2 (No class Feb 16) PRICE: $140.00 Each week, Jonathan Shykofsky, a graduate of Sheridan College's world renowned Classical Animation Program, has a new cartoon adventure for the children, and throughout the program, students will learn all about cartoons and the basic fundamentals of art, while exploring their creativity with drawing and painting. Classes will integrate favourite characters from TV and film, for ultimate cartoon fun.
