• Thank you to: Janet Bissi for coordinating the book fair and for doing a terrific job, and to Alexa Schwartzbeck for
coordinating the Sharing Tree and delivering the donations to the House of Mercy.
President’s Report: Jennifer Fay/Alanna Randall – Co-Presidents
• The PTA Board acknowledged Paul Meyers, Head custodian and great friend of Brooks Hill, for his many years of support
and help with PTA functions. Paul has recently been promoted to Custodial Supervisor for the District and will be leaving
his position at Brooks Hill. Jenn Fay made a motion to add $200 to the budget for Paul's gift of a bottomless coffee mug
from Brueggers. The motion was approved.
• We will be starting our new Community Read program this month. The book is Mindset by Carol Dweck. Encouraging BH
parents to read this book and join in the conversation on a blog and at the March 7th PTA meeting.
• School 12 Partnership. An opportunity for Fairport students to connect with students from School 12 in the city of
Rochester. Will be run like a club using different activities such as letter writing, creating videos about their schools and
Skype sessions. May culminate in a face to face meeting at the end of the year. Looking for 12-15 fourth or fifth graders
and a few parent volunteers.
• We are moving forward with our playground fundraising. The district has committed to funding half of the project. The
cost would be about $90000.00 so we are looking at pulling together $50000.00. The PTA will be holding a Chicken BBQ
at the school budget vote and holding a capital campaign. If you have any fundraising experience and could help with this
effort, please let us know!
• Upcoming events: The Brooks Hill Musical will be on January29th and 30th. The kids have worked hard to put on a
fantastic show. Movie Night will be on Friday, February 27th in the Brooks Hill gym (movie to be announced soon).
Clubs will begin in March. We are in need of adult coordinators to run clubs in order for this program to take place.
Principal’s Report: Dr. Kenny
 I will be posting some questions, in blog format by chapter, for our community read of Mindset. The March PTA meeting
will include a brief presentation and then we will break into discussion groups.
 The search for Fairport's Superintendent is underway. 6 candidates to interview. News about the process should be
coming out soon.
Report of Coordinator Positions:
• School Musical (Ed Rocha) We are in need of helpers! Especially for set-up and take-down, technical assistance and
during the last week of production. We are also in need of "attic stuff"(trunks, old dress forms etc.). If you donate an item
and would like it back, please label it. All unlabeled items will be discarded after the show. Scott Fitzgerald will be taping
the show and we will be putting it on DVD (distribution TBD). Poster contest out to the kids and the winning poster will
be used for the production.
• Sharing Tree (Alexa Schwartzbeck) Thank you to all who donated. Was very proud of our Brooks Hill families for
participating in it and being so generous. We were part of helping 300 famillies have a better Christmas.
• Book Fair (Janet Bissi) The Book Fair was a success even with the shortened hours due to the weather. We raised
$1661.00. Thank you to the custodial staff and all who volunteered. A special thanks to Heather Mirrione for all of her
help.
• After School Clubs (Heidi Walton) We are in need of club coordinators. Volunteer forms have been sent home and are
due by January 23rd. We will also post a form on the PTA website. Clubs will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and
Wednesdays throughout March. The time commitment for a coordinator would be from 3-4:30pm. Please contact Heidi at
heidiwalton4@gmail.com with any questions.
• Math Action (Gina Herendeen) The first cycle of Math Action ran very well thanks to Alexa Schwartzbeck and Lisa
Owen. They both worked hard to help me modify the activities in the grade level baskets, send out emails to parents and
gave great feedback with regard to the development of the parent survey. All parents and teachers who participate in Math
Action are directed to give feedback via a survey on Survey Monkey, rather than the paper form in prior years. The results
are very positive so far. Overall the program is running smoothly.
