Dr. Raymond’s current research is focused on understanding the best clinical approach to pediatric patients with diabetes, specifically adolescents and young adults as they become more independent with their diabetes care. Dr. Raymond focused on clinical diabetes research in adolescents and young adults during her first years as a faculty member and during her fellowship training. She also completed advanced training in clinical research. She currently has an American Diabetes Association Junior Faculty award titled: “T1DM Grows Up: Novel Intervention for Transitioning Patients from Pediatric to Adult Care”. She is completing a provider-focused, problem-based learning intervention to improve clinical care in adolescents and young adults. Her goal is to improve providers’ care of adolescents and young adults, which will ideally result in improved diabetes management in the adolescents and young adults. Dr. Raymond also has a NIH/NIDDK K12 award focusing on an innovative approach to clinical care in adolescents and young adults. Her project is titled: “Shared Medical Appointments for Adolescents and Emerging Adults with Type 1 Diabetes”. She is designing a clinic focused on group visits in adolescents and emerging adults to prepare them for management of their diabetes during and after high school. She is working with multiple medical disciplines to learn how to best provide care for this patient population.
