Chemical properties
Reactivity:
 MgS reacts with water to give hydrogen sulphide and
magnesium hydroxide.
(i.e. MgS evolves hydrogen sulphide upon contact with
moisture.)
Laboratory Preparations:
# Store in tightly closed containers in a
cool, dry place.
# Wash hands and face after use.
# Handle in a controlled atmosphere.
# Extinguishing media: Use dry chemical,
CO2 or graphite. DO NOT USE WATER.
