By: Julia Aldridge Nucleus A nucleus is like the driver of the car. It controls the car, just like a nucleus controls a cell. The nucleus is the control center of a cell. Cell membrane The cell membrane controls what goes in and out. Just like the doors on a car controls who or what enters and exits the car. Cell wall (plant) The cell wall is for protection, structure, and support. This is like the frame of a car. If the car had no frame there would be no support to drive it. Endoplasmic reticulum These are passages for proteins to move through. This is like the fuel line of a car. The fuel line carries gas from the fuel line to the gas tank, like an endoplasmic reticulum carries proteins . Golgi Apparatus This packages and ships proteins. This part of the cell is like a carburetor because the carburetor puts gas in the engine just like a Golgi apparatus ships proteins. Mitochondrion The mitochondrion is the powerhouse of the cell. It produces energy, which is like a car battery, because the battery gives the car energy to start up. Vacuole This stores food, water, and waste. This Vacuole is like a gas tank because the gas tank stores the gas for a car which makes it run, like the vacuole stores the cells necessities. Ribosome A ribosome produces protein. This is like the engine, because the engine produces the force to move the car, like the ribosome makes the proteins to force the cell to work. The difference in a plant cell and an animal cell..
