German Inventor Karl Ludwig Nessler Life: In 1872 Karl Ludwig Nessler was born in Todtnau. He began his work in a hair salon in 1892. In 1896 he first tried a permanent wave („perm“) on his colleague. He married Katharina Laible in 1901 and later he had to move to London because of the war. Permanent wave machine He wanted to bring a „skin rejuvenation machine“ on the market in 1939. But this was not possible because of the war.
