FTP10 Access Instructions
Welcome to Dow Jones Indexes!
There are a variety of methods that can be used to access the Dow
Jones Indexes FTP Site:

Access via Web Browser
You can use many web browsers such as Internet Explorer* and
Mozilla Firefox.
• Type ftp10.djindexes.com into the address bar and press enter.
• A log-in window will pop up where you can enter your username and password.
• After entering your username and password, click “Log On”.
* not compatible with Internet Explorer 7.0

Access via Windows Explore
You can use Windows Explore by right clicking on the “Start” button
and selecting “Explore”.
• Type ftp://ftp10.djindexes.com into the address bar and press enter.
• A log-in window will pop up where you can enter your username and password.
• After entering your username and password, click “Log On”.

Access via MS DOS Prompt
You can use MS DOS by clicking on the “Start” button and selecting
“Run”.
• Type “cmd” and press enter.
• When the black command window opens, type “ftp ftp10.djindexes.com” and
press enter.
• A successful command will prompt you for your username and password. Type in
your username and press enter. Then type in your password and press enter.
• You will see confirmation your username is logged in.

Access via FTP Download Utility/Software
You can access the Dow Jones Indexes FTP site via FTP software or
download utility (e.g. Filezilla, WS-FTP Pro, etc), you will need to
update your software to reflect the new address: ftp10.djindexes.com
• Filezilla is a free web tool which can be downloaded from: http://filezilla-
project.org/download.php?type=client. Click FileZilla_3.1.4.1_win32-setup.exe
(recommended) for windows to download it. Once it’s downloaded, please install
it. Upon opening this application, you will see a host where menus are usually
found. The host name is ftp10.djindexes.com. Type your username and password
and click “Quick Connect”.

Access via HTTPs
If we have provided confirmation that you can access the Dow Jones
Indexes FTP site via HTTPS, you will use the following URL (with your
username inserted in place of “USERNAME”):
https://ftp.10.djindexes.com/USERNAME
• To access the HTTPS service, you must first download a certificate from Dow
Jones Information Security:
– Connect to http://pki.dowjones.com
– Select Dow Jones Root CAs from Download menu
– Click Run from file download window
– If Unknown Publisher security warning is received, click run
– Select Next in Setup window
– Click Finish
• Navigate to https://ftp10.djindexes.com/USERNAME
• Enter your username and password in the area provided
• You should be able to access the directory/files

Unsuccessful Log-in
An unsuccessful log-in through a web browser, Windows Explorer, or
MS-DOS may yield an error message similar to the ones below.
• Please confirm you have entered the correct log-in information.
• You may not be able to access FTP due to firewall/security limitations.
In
this case, please contact your System Administrator.

FTP Site Contents
All primary FTP directories to which your account has access are
viewed after logging into your account
• To access the FTP files, double click on any directory or subdirectory.

Directory Content
• Component data is available in the directories containing “comp” (or “compa” if
licensed for CUSIPs.)
– cdnYYYYMMDD.csv files contain index components as of the end of the day
– cfnYYYYMMDD.csv files contain index components as of the opening of the next
trading day
– udnYYYYMMDD.csv files contain corporate actions as of the end of the day
– ufnYYYYMMDD.csv files contain corporate actions as of the opening of the next
trading day
– If licensed for CUSIPs, files will be cda, cfa, uda, and ufa
• Index data is available in the directories containing “indx”.
– idaYYYYMMDD.csv files contain index values as of the end of the day
• Divisor data is available in the directories containing “div”.
– ddaYYYYMMDD.csv files contain index divisors as of the end of the day
– dfaYYYYMMDD.csv files contain index divisors for the open of the next trading day
• Exchange rates are available in the directories containing “xchgrate”.
– xdaYYYYMMDD.csv files contain exchange rates as of the end of the day
