3. Philia: Love of Friendship ( Jesus and
Apostles love)
4. Eros: Love between man and woman
which is neither palnned nor willed, but
somehow imposes itself upon human
beings
Eros
• Greeks considered eros principally as a
kind of intoxification, the overpowering of
reason by a “divine madness’ which tears
man away fron his finite existence and
enables him, in the very process of being
overwhelmed by Divine power, top
experience supreme happiness.

fellowship with divine.

• eg. Armenian Earth Quake, Mother and

• ‘Can a woman forget her nursing child or
show no compassion for child of her
womb?’

God’s Love should be developed
by:
1. Faith
2. Prayer
3. Surrender
Leads to mutual love and they are
manifested in.
Charitable work, duty bound action and self less
service (eg. Mother Theresa)
‘Small things are done in great Love bring Joy,
Peace.’
Jn. 13:35 ‘Every one will know that you are my
disciples’ (eg. Brahmin Leper)
Jn. 15:12-13 ‘This is my commandment, that you
love one another, as I have loved you, none
has greater love than this, to lay down one’s
own life for ones friends’
Lament. 3:22-26 ‘The steadfast love of the Lord
never ceases, his mercies never come to an
end. They are new every morning, great is
your faithfulness’.
