• A powerful predictor for development of
atherosclerotic vascular disease
• Lipoprotein(a) is a dimer consisting of LDL
molecule bound to Apo(a) via a disulphide
bridge
• Lp(a) is a risk factor for coronary heart
disease (CHD) that is independent of all other
lipid parameters
• Lp(a) is a special tool for doctors
• The CHD risk predictor is high, especially
when Lp(a) and LDL are elevated
simultaneously => lipid lowering therapy
recommended
