Social Media Addendum – Policy Overview
• Contact MPA before beginning your social media initiative
• You must have a primary assigned site administrator
responsible for content who is an employee of the
university
• Your page/account name, audience(s) and contact info for
your primary site administrator must be on file the SOM’s
communications offices
• Site/page must adhere to university’s branding guidelines
(use of name, logos, other policies)

Clinical Trial Recruitment

Use of social media platforms for clinical trial recruitment must be
reviewed by the WUSM Institutional Review Board (IRB).

Proposals submitted to the WUSM IRB by the PI during the normal
protocol submission process
•
Volunteer for Health / Research Participant Registry is already
engaging potential trial participants on Facebook.

Use of social media platforms for clinical trial recruitment must be
reviewed by the WUSM Institutional Review Board (IRB). Proposals
for use of social media platforms for this purpose should be submitted
to the WUSM IRB by the principal investigator during the normal
protocol submission process.
