The Role of the Ratio of Omega 6s to
Omega 3s in Optimal Health
The superior Marine Lipid Complex
Essential Fatty Acids
 Required by the human body to manufacture
and repair cell membranes
 Protect cells from inflammation
 Cannot be made in sufficient quantities
therefore must be obtained from food
 Two types:
 Alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3)
 Linoleic acid (Omega-6)
Omega 6 and 3
Fish /Marine
Oils
Walnuts
Omega 3/Omega 6 Imbalance
 Changes in food
manufacturing processes
have resulted in high
amounts of Omega 6
 Hydrogenated oils
 High-fructose corn
syrup
 Genetically engineered
corn and soy products

 Bodies natural biological protective response of tissue
to harmful stimuli
 Pathogens

Effects of Reducing
Omega-6:Omega-3 Ratio
 In secondary prevention
of cardiovascular
disease, a ratio of 4:1
Omega-6 to Omega-3
fatty acids associated
with 70% decrease in
total mortality
DeLongeril M, er al. Mediterranean alpha-linoleic acid-rich
diet in secondary prevention of coronary heart disease.

Effects of Reducing
Omega-6:Omega-3 Ratio
 Lowering the ratio to 5:1,
resulted in alterations in
5-series leukotriene
excretion in an
asthmatics in
ameliorating
methacholine-induced
respiratory distress

with omega-3 fatty acid ingestion are related to 5series leukotriene production. Am J Clin Nutr

Effects of Reducing
Omega-6:Omega-3 Ratio
 Lowering the Omega-6:
Omega-3 ratio by 4:1 by
using 4gm of omega-3
fatty acids produced
inhibition of production
of IL-1β and TNFα
associated with
rheumatoid arthritis

The OMAPREM
Difference
 With 30 years of Clinical
Studies, OMAPREM is
proven to be a Powerful,
Effective Cox-2 and 5Lox
inhibitor.
OMAPREM
 In addition to EPA and DHA,
OMAPREM contains over 30
fatty acids that contribute to
its anti inflammatory
benefits. As well as 4 novel
compounds*

 A structurally related family of ω-3 PUFAs was identified in
the most bioactive fractions, which included:
 C18:4
 C19:4
 C20:4
 C21:5
 The novel compounds may be biologically significant as AI
agents, as a result of their in vitro inhibition of
lipoxygenase products of the AA pathway.

Fish Oil Source
 May contain man made pollutants if
taken from natural sources
 Heavy Metals
 PCB’s
 Pesticides
 Radiation
 Farm raised fish have lower amounts
of Omega 3s and higher amounts of
Omega 6s due to corn/grain diet
 Bio-magnification

Fish Oil Source
 Fish, like salmon, consume smaller
fish or krill that consume the
plankton.
 Fish also can absorb industrial
contaminates (like mercury) by
eating smaller fish.
 The farther up the food chain the
higher the level of contaminates
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/fish/
Krill- Sustainability
 National Geographic Magazine has
warned about the 80 percent drop in
krill populations over the last few
decades
 This drop could potentially harming
already depleted whale and other
marine mammal populations
 Without krill, most of the life forms in the
Antarctic would disappear.

OMAPREM Purity
 Green lipped mussels
 Sustainably farmed in the pristine
waters of New Zealand’s
Marlborough Sound.
 Evolved to have extraordinary
antioxidant content due to ozone
deficiency
 Blue Ocean Institute, ranked New
Zealand Green-lipped mussels as one
of the top two ‘eco-friendly seafoods’
in the world.*

Marine Oil Extraction Process

Marine Oil Extraction Process
 Cold press and distillation processes result in bound
forms of essential fatty acids
 Triglyceride
 Ethyl esters
 More metabolic processing required by the body in
order for absorption
Marine Oil Extraction Process
Extraction Processes
• Free Fatty Acids - easily absorbed and
have been shown to have superior
bioavailability*
• Triglyceride form- have a triglyceride
“backbone” to the grouping of Fatty
Acids
• Ethyl Easter- The Fatty acids are
grouped together. The body must add
the triglyceride backbone for
absorption

Arthritis
 50 patients older than 50 years
 Patients treated with PCSO-524™ showed a statistically
significant improvement of both their pain symptoms related to
osteoarthritis and improved quality of their daily lives (p = 0.05)
 Conclusion: Reduction of pain was statistically evident at four
weeks among the subjects who took capsules that contained
PCSO-524™.
 Practitioners can expect quicker long-term results with less risk
of side effects for their osteoarthritis patients when they
recommend products that contain PCSO-524™, compared with
fish oil.

of PCSO-524™ on 50 adult men and women suffering
from inflammatory rheumatoid arthritis
21 of the 34 subjects (64%) reduced or terminated
current drug therapy
13 patients did not require further therapy
38 % of all subjects were regarded as being free from
disorders
Number of subjects suffering from severe pain was
significantly decreased from 60% (at baseline) to 25
% (at 3 months)
A significant positive effect was observed for all
investigated parameters

Inflammatory Bowel Disease
 The effect of pretreatment with PCSO-524™ on
experimentally induced inflammatory bowel disease
(IBD) in mice
 Body weight and disease activity index (DAI) scores
were recorded daily
 Treatment significantly reduced body weight loss, DAI
scores, crypt area losses, and cecum and colon weights,
compared with control

Asthma
 Forty-six patients with atopic asthma received
two capsules of lipid extract (PCSO-524™) or
placebo b.i.d. for 8 weeks
 Significant decrease in daytime wheeze
concentration of exhaled H2O2
 Increase in morning PEF in the lipid extract
group compared to the placebo group
 No reported significant side effects

 PCSO-524®, derived from the New Zealand green-
lipped mussel on DOMS after a 30 km training run.
 One group was supplemented with 400 mg per day of
PCSO-524® for 11 weeks, the other group with an olive
oil placebo.
 Conclusion: Pain sensations experienced by distance
runners following a 30 km run were reduced by
supplementation with the marine oil complex PCSO524®, an effect which was greater in lesser trained
runners
