We at the Lake Land Church of Christ are a non-denominational,
independent congregation of the Lord’s people. We try our best to
follow the New Testament design of governance and worship,
which means we are an autonomous group whose allegiance lies
with no one or any organization but Jesus Christ our Lord and
Savior, Who is King of kings and Lord of Lords. We belong to Him
because we are clothed in Him at baptism (Galatians 3:27) and it is
through His blood that the church was purchased (Galatians 3:13;
1 Peter 1:19), and the church is His alone (Matthew 16:18). We
believe that in His infinite wisdom He has left the local
congregation to be overseen by elders to watch over and guard the
spiritual needs of the flock (1 Peter 5:1-2); deacons to assist the
elders in seeing that its members are provided for (Acts 6; 1
Timothy 3); teachers to help the congregation grow spiritually and
in wisdom (1 Corinthians 12:28; Ephesians 4:11) and a minister or
evangelist to proclaim God’s word in season and out of season
(Ephesians 4:11; 2 Timothy 4:2). If you are looking for a
congregation that has no creed but only seeks to follow God’s word
as it is written, but acknowledges our own human foibles and
weaknesses, then you need look no further! We want you to be a
part of our congregation!

From the Preacher’s Desk
It is an undeniable truth that life is not fair.
Oftentimes we see first hand how those less
qualified receive a job promotion, while those much
r
more
deserving are passed over. But just because the world is not fair
does not give us as Christians permission to treat others unfairly. On
the contrary, we have many passages of Scripture that teach
otherwise. James, the Lord’s brother, teaches of the sin of partiality
by showing how wrong it is to favor someone new to our assembly
simply based upon the clothing one wears. He then states, “But if
you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by
the law as transgressors” (James 2:9 [NAS]). James and the Apostle
Paul both point out that we should model our lives and treat others as
God does, by judging their actions righteously, and to do so without
partiality. Paul writes in Romans 2:9-11 [NAS], 9 There will be
tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the
Jew first and also of the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace
to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
11 For there is no partiality with God. The Prophet Micah sums it up
nicely when he writes, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and
what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love
kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8 [NAS])

Thoughts for the Day:
“We are chameleons, and our partialities and prejudices
change place with an easy and blessed facility, and we are
soon wonted to the change and happy in it.”
-- Mark Twain

Anything that suggests the possibility
of favoritism really begins to work
against the public confidence.
You must not distort
justice; you must not show
partiality; and you must
not accept bribes, for a
bribe blinds the eyes of
the wise and subverts the
cause of those who are in
the right.
Impartiality is not neutrality
– it is partiality for justice.
