Analogy-Rainsford compares moist velvet to darkness(18) It enhances the story because it gives a comparison between to unlike things and helps you imagine.
Protagonist-Rainsford. He is the protagonist because he pushes the story along. It enhances the story because he gives interaction between the antagonist.
Setting-The Caribbean Sea and a remote island is where the story takes place. It enhances the story by making the game dangerous and eventful.
Metaphor- it is a metaphor because it compares two unlike things. It enhances the story because it compares two things that aren’t alike and finds a way that they are similar. Quote “ …On three sides of it’s cliff dived down to where the sea licked greedy lips in the shadows.” (20)

Direct Characterization- Harrison Bergeron. He is direct characterization because he is directly told what he is and acts like. It enhances the story because it gives you a clear view on who the character is. Quote-” Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen, has just escaped from jail where he was held on the suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government. Theme-There are many themes from this story, but one is, don’t wait to make amends with enemies because before you know it, it will be too late. It enhances the story because it gives the reader something to think about.
Allusion- Free Masons. It is an illusion because refers to a group that is not a part of the story. It enhances it because it gives more depth to the story and adds more content.
Indirect Characterization- Montressor. He is characterized indirectly because he is a heartless person because of hat he does to Fortunato, but it is not actually told in the story outright.

Dialect- Fortunato. The dialect is Fortunato and Montressor talking between each other. It enhances the story because it gives interaction between multiple characters. Quote- “’He is an ignoramus,’ interrupted my friend, as he stepped unsteadily forward while I followed immediately at his heels.”(216) It enhances the story because it gives interaction between the characters.
Tone-Edgar Allen Poe’s tone is mysterious and creepy. It enhances the story because it gives a feel to the story.
Unreliable Narrator-Montressor. He is an unreliable narrator because he is not always aware of what is happening in the story, like after he leaves Fortunato in the catacombs. It enhances the story because it can give twists in the story.
Hyperbole-When Montressor said he bore 1,000 injuries from

Verbal Irony- Montressor calls Fortunato his friend and says that he cares about his health even though he is his enemy and he doesn’t care about his health. Round Character- The Sniper. He is a round character because there are many details and he is a main character. It enhances the story because it gives a character that the story can focus on.
Flat Character- The Sniper’s brother. He is a flat character because there is not much told about him and he is mainly a small side character. It enhances the story because it gives more characters for the main character to interact with.
Internal Conflict- The Sniper. The Sniper probably has internal conflict with himself once he discovers that he shot his brother. It enhances the story because it gives a look into what the character is feeling.
