Users can set a limit value and a limit hold time (how long pressure is maintained at the limit value until the gauge rewinds to zero) and then select: Pull to Limit: Pull to Maximum: the gauge will increase the pressure at the defined pull rate until the limit has been reached and maintained for the set hold time or the dolly pulls off, whichever occurs first after which, the gauge re-winds to ‘zero’; or the gauge will increase the pressure until the maximum pressure rate for the selected dolly size / pull rate combination has been reached or the dolly pulls off, whichever occurs first, at which point the gauge automatically re-winds to ‘zero’. A limit can be set for individual readings (when in Immediate mode) or individual limits can be set for each batch (when in Batching). inspection equipment Pull Rate Graph inspection equipment Pull Rate Graph The Elcometer 510 Model T can also store the individual pull rate graph This unique feature allows users to record the load against time graph and display it on an inspection report. A graphical representation of the increase in pressure applied over time of test, based on the pull rate and dolly diameter set for the batch. The graph is displayed on screen above the pressure reading and attribute data (if set) using the resolution defined by the user via Batch/New Batch/Rate Graph. The individual graphs can be reviewed within the gauge under Batch/ Review Batch/ Readings & Rate Graph inspection equipment Failure Attributes inspection equipment Cohesive / Adhesive Failure Attributes Many National and International Standards, including ISO 4624 & ASTM D4541, require the user to record not only the pull-off force but also the nature of the failure. The bottom of the dolly is examined alongside the ‘fractured’ coating, the percentage cohesive and % adhesive failure is assessed and recorded together with the pull off reading. In accordance with Standards, the information is displayed as: ##.## MPa N% A M% A/B, Where: ##.## is the Pull Force in MPa or other measurement unit (psi, N or Nmm-2) N% is the Cohesive failure percentage (to the nearest 10%) and ‘A’ is the Cohesive failure layer M% is the Adhesive failure percentage (to the nearest 10%) and ‘A/B’ is the Intercoat adhesive failure layers inspection equipment Cohesive / Adhesive Failure Attributes d The number of layers can be user defined for each batch via Batch/New Batch/Number of Layers. This will affect the number of layers available for selection during attribute recording. The maximum number of layers available is five, excluding the substrate and glue. inspection equipment Cohesive / Adhesive Failure Attributes For example: 14.26 MPa 40% B 30% B/C the coating fractured at a pull force of 14.26 MPa, with 40% of the dolly area associated with cohesive failure of layer 1 and 30% of the dolly area associated with an intercoat adhesive failure between layers 1 and 2 failure together with the The cohesive failure percentage plus the adhesive percentage does not have to equal 100%, but cannot exceed 100% Should the dolly not fail, the pull force is recorded greater than symbol (>) the pull force obtained. For example: >25MPa 40% B 30% B/C inspection equipment Cohesive / Adhesive Failure Attributes In addition to recording the % cohesive and adhesive failure, ISO 4624 & ASTM D4541, require the user to also record whether the dolly was cut (and if so, with what type of tool; knife or dolly cutter); and if a support ring was used (and if so, the dimensions of the support ring). The Elcometer 510 also allows this information to be recorded within the batch header information – which is sent to ElcoMaster alongside the measurement and attribute data. Each Elcometer 510 has an internal support ring connected to the actuator head – this is called the Skirt. The user identifies the skirt type used (thin substrate, standard skirt, etc.) within the batch header, and the dimensions of the appropriate support ring are reported within ElcoMaster. inspection equipment Verifying the Gauge Calibration & Accuracy inspection equipment Verifying the Gauge Calibration & Accuracy The Elcometer 510 is factory calibrated however, the calibration and accuracy of the gauge can be verified in the field at any time using the Elcometer Adhesion Verification Unit (AVU). Connect the Elcometer 510 to the Elcometer AVU, select “Menu/ Verify Calibration” and follow the on screen instructions. The calibration verification process tests the gauge’s performance at three pressure points. inspection equipment ElcoMaster 2.0 inspection equipment ElcoMaster™ 2.0 The new Elcometer 510 is compatible with ElcoMaster™ 2.0 and ElcoMaster Mobile: Live gauge readings, and graphs can be transferred and stored in a batch within ElcoMaster™, as each measurement is taken. Batch data can be downloaded to PC or mobile device for archiving and report generation. Users can upgrade their gauges to the latest software release in the field. Compatible with Cloud Computing; data can be accessed by authorised users of the Cloud Account via secure log-in from anywhere in the world. Compatible with iPod, iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices. inspection equipment The Menu Structure Elcometer 510 Model S inspection equipment inspection equipment Elcometer 510 Model T inspection equipment inspection equipment inspection equipment Certificates & Warranty inspection equipment Calibration Certificates Each Elcometer 510 is supplied with a Calibration Certificate as standard.
