Women in Policing Bangladesh Journey started from 1974- 2013 Statistics First women police was recruited in 1974. In 1986 the first women police joined in the officer rank (cadre service). The % of WP was less then 2 % in 2007 now increased into 5.63%. A all women Battalion was established in 2011 by BP called Armed Police Battalion. The Commandant of the Battalion is a women. Two contingent of women police were sent to UN Peace keeping mission. In each batches there were 100 WP and the Commandant were women. 33% seats were reserved for women in the Community Policing Forums. In the history of BP a women police became Additional Commissioner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Four women police became Assistant Commissioner . Women Support and Investigation Unit was established Under Dhaka Metropolitan Police . The UNIT is run by all women and the head of the centre is a SP A women police became the Office in Charge (OC) of a Police stations at Dhaka . In 2013 a women police became the SP of a District . Supported by PRP A Gender Guidelines was developed by PRP and approved by BP an disseminated in all the Police Stations. A Day-care Centre was established in Rajarbagh Police line. Eight Victim Support Centres were established with the support of PRP. All these VSCs are run by women police. Memorandum of agreement was signed by 10 NGOs
