Diverticular Disease of the colon INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM Rome 7th-8th February 2014 Atahotel Villa Pamphili INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM Diverticulosis of the colon is an anatomical condition very common in the western world (> 70 % of sixty is affected ) , and is increasing in countries of the developing world. The majority of patients remain asymptomatic throughout their lives , but about 25% of them will encounter symptoms and complications related to the diverticula . This results in extremely high in cost for the National Health System. . Despite this, diverticular disease of the colon, with all its facets of clinical pathology is still misunderstood and considered very little . However, in recent years there have been major innovations in both pathophysiological and therapeutic sides , innovations that have led to both a better understanding of the causes of the disease that embarking on new therapeutic avenues . For this reason we organized an international event to better understand of this important disease . This event, according to the criteria accredited from Continuing Medical Education (CME ) of the Ministry of Health, will collect opinions of the most important Italian and European experts , and will be open to all healthcare professionals who deal with diverticular disease of the colon.
