Italian Presidency - General Principles
 Promote an open debate in order to make the «Europe 2020» Strategy
more effective and relevant
 The Strategy will be addressed in all relevant Council formations, paving
the way to the pursuit of the Europe 2020 Strategy mid term review in 2015
 Support strategies to achieve the Europe 2020 targets:
 Promoting investments in human capital, R&D
 Innovation and growth
 Creating conditions to secure a long-term financing for the real
economy
 Italian Presidency will act with a view to




facilitate the transition,
create a favourable political environment
promote a constructive debate between all stakeholders,
lowering the gap perceived between citizens and EU Institutions
 Exploit the margin of improvements in the functioning of institutions offered
by the Lisbon Treaty provisions
