WWW.CHARLEVOIXCOUNTY.ORG/RECYCLING H O U S E H O L D H A Z A R D O U S WA S T E What is HHHW? Basically things that say “poison, toxic, flammable, or corrosive” are considered HHHW and should be disposed of in a responsible manner. As well as, items that “contain hazardous materials” like televisions and computers which should not be put in a landfill. PROPER DISPOSAL It only takes a small amount of some common household chemicals to pollute a large amount of soil, air, and water. To provide a means for residents to properly dispose of HHHW items, the Charlevoix County Recycling Program holds two collection events each year. All hazardous materials are handled by DLD and are treated and/or processed for disposal and stored in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. There is no charge to Charlevoix County residents for this service. Businesses with larger volumes may be charged a fee. WHEN & WHERE The first collection typically takes place the first or second weekend in JUNE & is held over by Charlevoix. The last collection typically takes place the first or second weekend in SEPTEMBER & is held in Boyne City. Call 231.582.6193 to schedule a time slot!!!!
