If the organization decides to adopt any of these categorical waivers
they must
• Ensure full compliance with the appropriate code reference
• Document the decision to adopt the categorical waiver
• For Life Safety Code items annotate the “Additional
Comments” Section in the Statement of Conditions™ Basic
Building Information (BBI)
• For Environment of Care items document by Minutes in
discussion at the Environment of Care Committee (or
equivalent)
• Declare the decision at the beginning of any survey
