The epic poem “The Wanderings of Odysseus the Odyssey” by
Homer and translated by Robert Fitzgerald. A hero ,in the Homeric
period, was a warrior-chieftain of special strength, courage, or
ability (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/hero). Odysseus is
a great hero to many people because he is loyal, intelligent, and
brave when he spreads from his armada, however Odysseus is also
only human and has weaknesses one major weakness, his curiosity.

Odysseus is loyal. “Eurylochus tells Odysseus what has
happened and begs his captain to sail away from Circe’s island.
Against Eurylochus’ advice, however, Odysseus rushes to save his
men from the enchantress.” (920).


What is working and where is there room for
improvement?

The epic poem The Wanderings of Odysseus from
The Odyssey is by Homer, and translated by Robert
Fitzgerald. According to Mc Dougall Littell, “An epic
hero is a larger-than-life figure, usually male, who
embodies the ideals of a nation or race. Epic heroes take
part in long, dangerous adventures and accomplish great
deeds that require courage and superhuman strength”
(890). Odysseus is a hero because he is brave, intelligent,
and loyal, however Odysseus is also human and
therefore, has one major weakness, arrogance.
