Support community-led and owned Miyupimaatisiiun strategic work plan
and support regional alignment with community Miyupimaatisiiun
priorities as necessary conditions to then facilitate the creation of an
Eeyou Istchee Strategic Plan for Miyupimaatisiiun
GOAL
1. Community Miyupimaatisiiun Strategic Work Plan – by September
2015

2015
(A strategic plan created through a community-driven framework of development,
consultation, integration, and approval among the regional and local entities and groups)

o June 10 2013 discussions to collaborate, focus on pre-elementary age
 Cree Policy on Social Wellness Task Force (CSP)
o Policy to base human services on Cree values
 Cree Health Board: Public Health (PHD) Planning
o Legal obligation (S-5, s63.16), presentation to BOD Dec 2011
 Cree Health Board: Nishiiyuu Miyupimaatisiiun & CMCs
o Mandate to develop strategic regional plan for land-based healing

MAAMUU NAKAAHEHTAAU CAMPAIGN (MNC)
 MNC support to community’s healthy living efforts (include)
o Encourage resolution to take specific action towards healthier living
for community members
o Encourage development of health committee
o Help develop better regional-local partnership
o Help community as work towards community health/social work plan
Also some of the outcomes of the IAMP
 IAMP building and expanding on MNC work to date
o IAMP relying on Chief and Council interest in MNC work
• Resolutions signed to support MNC aims
• MNC workers active in 5 communities to date
o IAMP looking to rely on MNC relationships with communities
o MNC Staff actively involved in IAMP work

 Community leadersip and ownership is key to successful implementation:
o Leadership and ownership of community Miyupimaatisiiun Strategic Plan
o Provide pro-active direction to regional Miyupimaatisiiun Strategic plans
 The Cree Health Board has provided what is needed to start and facilitate
the miyupimaatisiiun process:
o Initiative (resolutions) , leadership, funding, and support staff

-Better collaboration across regional entities means stronger support to
communities
-Community Miyu. Work Plans = better ability to align work and support
communities
3. What you can bring to the process
-Work to create plain language document outlining your work
-Begin now to
• Show interest in their planning processes (look to be involved)
• Work with planning to make certain work plans are comprehensive (no
missed key health and social aspects)
• Help build momentum and sustain the work
