Stockholm, 10 mars 2015, kl 8-17
Lund, 11 mars 2015, kl 8-17
Cheryl Tulkoff, CRE, DfR Solutions
Emma Hudson, UL
Cheryl Tulkoff is an industry renowned expert in the fields of
semiconductor fabrication, electronics assembly, RoHS
conversion, and reliability engineering and management. At her
most recent position at National Instruments, Cheryl developed a
comprehensive reliability organization, including the creation of
an internal failure analysis group and a closed loop reliability
reliabil
program. She has also taken the lead in process development and
implementation in semiconductor fabrication through her work at
Cypress Semiconductor in electronics assembly, and through her
work at IBM.
Emma is UL’s lead PCB engineer in Europe.
In March 2006 Emma joined Underwriters Laboratories as a
Project Engineer in the Performance Materials department.
Emma’s primary role is to support the PCB, laminate and coating
industries in gaining UL Recognition for their products.
After graduating from Coventry University in 1999 with a
Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Technology Emma joined
TRW Automotive Electronics as a Process and Materials Engineer,
leaving in 2006 as the Process and Materials Laboratory Manager.
Emma’s work included among other tasks introducing new
products into manufacturing facilities in Japan, the US, and
Europe.
Topic: Design for Excellence
Designing for excellence
llence is a methodology that involves various
groups with knowledge of different parts of the product lifecycle
advising the design engineering functions during the design
phase. It is also the process of assessing issues beyond the base
functionality where
e base functionality is defined as meeting the
business and customer expectations of function, cost, and size.
Designing printed boards today is more difficult than ever before
because of the increased lead free process temperature
requirements and associated
ted changes required in manufacturing.
Key elements of a DfX program include designing for reliability,
manufacturability, testability, sourcing, and the environment.
Topic: Greater knowledge on UL
Emma will explain the sometimes complex UL structures,
markings, type designation et c,, as well as to provide greater
knowledge
dge of UL and what demand are put on the PCB and PCBA
DfX efforts require the integration of product design and process
planning into a cohesive,
sive, interactive activity known as
Concurrent Engineering.
