1 (5) Program 1-dags teknik,- och produktseminarium Sulzer Chemtech Mass Transfer & Process Technology 27 november 2013 i Göteborg, Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel 08.00 – 08.30 Registration, Coffee 08.35 – 08.55 Introduction to Sulzer Paul Robinson, Head of Mass Transfer Technology - UK & Scandinavia Setting the scene for the day ahead – a short introduction to the world of Sulzer 09.00 – 09.50 Designing High Performance Trays - The Art Of Ravi Marimootoo, Head Application and Process Technology - O&G Ind. What is a tray? Some would only say a panel with perforations that provides a platform for mass transfer; others would add, it is a piece of scientific art. It takes decades of experience to understand the optimum working features of a tray through an understanding of the application/service it is meant to work in, the efficiencies required to achieve the desired output, and the craftsmanship needed to simply produce it. Through a look at the evolution of trays from their simplest designs to their high performance counterparts, 2 case studies will be presented to show the positive impact of high performance trays on process efficiencies and on achieving mega throughputs under more stringent regulations and restrictions. 09.50 – 10.20 A look into Sulzer's Key Oil and Gas Applications Ravi Marimootoo, Head Application and Process Technology - O&G Ind. This subject will detail the key applications wherein Sulzer has acquired extensive experience and know-how due to its consistent worldwide approach in design. Key applications, both Upstream and Downstream (Refinery), will be discussed. 10.20 – 10.35 Coffee 2 (5) 10.35 – 11.25 Packed Tower Design Johannes Rauber, Head Application and Process Technology – C&P Ind. This presentation includes an introduction about when to use what type of mass transfer internals – random or structured packing or trays. Furthermore a limited overview about packing types, design principles, impact of packing related internals and installation quality is provided. 11.25 – 11.55 A look into Application Technology Johannes Rauber, Head Application and Process Technology – C&P Ind. A short overview about engineering and design capabilities that is offered by Sulzer Chemtech for selected applications adapted to the audience. 11.55 – 12.35 Lunch 12.35 – 13.25 Separators Paul Robinson, Head of Mass Transfer Technology - UK & Scandinavia. Wherever gas and liquid phases are present in a process there will be a risk of entrainment. This session provides an insight into separator design, and provides guidance on the selection of appropriate equipment to both prevent and remove entrainment of liquid droplets in gases and immiscible liquid dispersions. 13.30 – 14.00 Introduction to Sulzer's Design Software SulCol Ravi Marimootoo, Head Applications and Process Technology - O&G Ind. Sulzer offers to the customer a free hydraulic design software for separation columns. The program is introduced by column design examples with trays and structured or random packing. 14.00 – 14.15 Coffee 14.15 – 15.05 Static Mixing Technologies Marcel Suhner, Senior Application Manager Mixers Static In-Line Mixers. A technology many years available but still new for many industries and applications. This presentation includes an introduction into the basics of static mixing, shows the different mixer types of Sulzer and describes the variety of use in different application fields. Finally a few specific examples of use will be shown for the Chemical, and Oil&Gas industries. 3 (5) 15.10 – 16.00 TFS Tower Field Services Martin Wilson, Operations Manager - Tower Field Service Tower Field Service personnel have extensive knowledge of all types of vessel and tower internals providing support to customers for all their internals equipment installation requirements. This presentation describes the full scope of services available and, by means of case studies, illustrates the importance of installation issues when developing equipment designs.
