第76回エコトピア科学講演会 イギリスからの客員教授の講演 “Smart technologies for independent living of people with movement disabilities” The presentation will introduce the programme of teaching and research in rehabilitation engineering at Coventry University in the UK. The talk will highlight on some ongoing and recent research projects on wheelchair stability assessment, human machine interaction, and control of assistive devices. Some smart house concepts and clinical application of eye-gaze control systems will be also commented. Dimitar Stefanov received his PhD degree in assistive robotics from the Institute of Mechanics and Biomechanics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia. From 1982 to 1989, he was an Assistant Professor. In 1990, he achieved habilitation in biomedical engineering and became a Professor in technology for independent living at the Institute of Mechanics. During 1998 - 1999, he was a Senior Research Fellow at the New Industrial Research Organization (NIRO), Kobe, Japan. From 2000 to 2003, he was a Visiting Professor with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejon, Korea. From July 2003 to May 2007, he has been a Principal Clinical Scientist at the Rehabilitation Engineering Department in Cardiff, UK.
