Expanded Mission
While originally a roofingspecific association, in March
of 2006, RCI expanded its
mission and service scope to
include waterproofing and
exterior wall systems.
This action reflects the understanding
that roofing issues often influence the
entire building envelope.
In increasing frequency, RCI members
are called upon to address buildingwide concerns from below-grade to
rooftop.
Consultants understand the greater
picture – they design solutions with the
entire building envelope in mind.
Consultants routinely investigate and
specify transitions between systems, such
as roofing and masonry.
Daily experience with
maintaining, repairing,
and replacing the
spectrum of roofing
systems enables a
consultant to provide
unbiased
recommendations
regarding system
performance and
return on investment
information.
The single most important
building envelope consultant
characteristic is his or her
unique perspective in the
complex building life cycle.
RCI’s consultant members are
involved with every facet of the
building life cycle, from
commissioning and pre-design
services, to designdevelopment, to post
construction, to demolition.
