RIVER HIREN IN DISTRICT BANSWARA

Borkhedi Check dam on river Hiren
The entire village celebrated the completion of Check Dam at Borkhedi, District
Banswara, Rajasthan. During the acute shortage of water in the summer of 2000,
this check dam was full of water. The celebration was an indication that people
owned this structure from the first day, which was going to transform their lives.
Recently completed Check dam Zumki, Banwara, Rajasthan
on river Hiren – constructed under RKVY
5 Check dams already constructed on this river Hiren and 9 more are planned to
be completed next 2-3 years by 2012 or 2013
With 14 check dams on this river, the entire river would be fully harvested having
large number of lift irrigation schemes attached with these check dams
On optimum harvesting the river will have water stored for 30 kms.
