Build-It-Yourself Intern Program
Time Commitment
During the school year, developers and interns meet in our
Webcast room for one hour on Saturdays and Sundays.
During the summer, interns are invited to spend a week or more
working with our developers at MIT or at our ‘lab’ in Cambridge.
Our aim is the inspire interns to spend a significant number of
hours completing a variety of projects.

Compensation
Interns are paid $6/hr up to $180/year for:
1. work that becomes part of the Build-It-Yourself product.
2. mentoring in Build-It-Yourself workshops.
3. presenting Build-It-Yourself projects at conferences.

Build-It-Yourself Intern Program
Compensation Policy
Build-It-Yourself has a policy to pay interns for hours spent:
1) delivering workshops.
2) presenting BIY to partners
3) developing content or platforms.
Compensation is at a rate of $6/hr up to 30 hours per year (or up to $180/year).
Interns may log hours for content/platform work that is actually used on our
Website, or for presentations or for workshops that had a successful outcome.
Our policy is not to compensate interns for learning time or prep time or meeting
time.
Interns must keep time sheet and submit an invoice.
