Storage Software Ordering and Entitlement Storage Software Strategy IBM Confidential © 2010 IBM Corporation Smarter Systems for a Smarter Planet Ordering IBM Storage “Solutions” can be a challenge IBM Storage “Solutions” – Two brands (System Storage and Tivoli Storage) – Two ordering systems (AAS and PPA) – Two pricers (STG and SWG) Choose the AAS route for your HW+SW “solution”… eConfig ePricer Choose the PPA route for the SW portion of your “solution”… 2 …and miss config and pricing assistance for the “‘solution” AAS PPA …and miss a robust process for managing ongoing software maintenance renewals PPA Subscription & Support “software maintenance” renewal IBM Confidential © 2010 IBM Corporation Smarter Systems for a Smarter Planet Beginning October 7, 2010… We have integrated the best of both worlds – – – – IBM Configurator for e-business (eConfig) IBM Pricer for e-business (ePricer) AAS “solution” ordering for hardware and software IBM Passport Advantage Subscription & Support for software entitlement management and renewal Choose the AAS route for your HW+SW “solution”… eConfig ePricer AAS PPA 3 …and have the software maintenance entitlements automatically created in PPA. PPA Subscription & Support “software maintenance” renewal IBM Confidential © 2010 IBM Corporation Smarter Systems for a Smarter Planet Beginning October 7, 2010… What changed? – eConfig updates to identify many Storage Software products and automatically entitle the software maintenance in Passport Advantage Express ● Since the entitlement is now in Passport Advantage, you will be asked to provide some customer contact information during the order process (see next pages) What’s the benefit? – Single “Solution” configuration, pricing, and ordering. – Common anniversary date for software Subscription and Support renewals. – Worldwide renewal process for software Subscription & Support (commonly referred to as software maintenance) Do I need to start ordering differently? – Not unless you want to. All previously available ordering approaches are still available. – If you choose, you will transition to the AAS route for configuring, pricing, and ordering all Storage Solutions. It provides the most robust support for getting the transaction done correctly and quickly. In the background, the software maintenance entitlements for many of the storage software products will be automatically created as PPA S&S records. What’s the catch? – Clients who order IBM Software brands through Passport Advantage accumulate “points” that can result in deeper entitled discounts. Some IBM Storage Software is available today to be ordered directly in Passport Advantage. For these products, moving orders to AAS will result in a decrease in accumulated PPA “points”. 4 IBM Confidential © 2010 IBM Corporation Smarter Systems for a Smarter Planet IBM direct sales team essentials Obtain solution software end-user registration information Customer Contact Information Passport Advantage Site Number (if known) Customer Company Information Company Name (full legal name) First Name Street Address Last Name City, State, Province, ZIP/Postal Code Telephone Number Country Fax Number Telephone Number Email address FaxNumber Value Added Tax Number (or country equivalent – Sales aid – Customer Registration Forms ● Translated versions of the Customer Registration Form are available on the Cross Brand Solution Enablement wiki. For these cases, there is one more topic to discuss. eConfig will not have an accurate inventory of the customer environment. In order for eConfig to accurately configure additional TB’s of tiered capacity software, you will need to give the starting point. 13 What if my customer already has all their IBM Storage Software in PPA? – You can continue to order in PPA if you want.
