It was established in 1991 when the then independently operating faculty
libraries merged and formed one organizational unit consisting of the Central
Library, specialized („satellite“) libraries at the faculties and the British Centre
with a unified system of library rules and fees.
The Library shares centrally-operated systems of acquisitions, processing and
dissemination of traditional and electronic information resources.
The joint catalogue (http://katalog.upol.cz) is used for searching and effective
circulation of documents.
