Sandia RF & Microwave Day 2013 ANSYS Electronics Updates This session provides a full update on ANSYS highfrequency software with design examples from microwave, antenna and high-speed electronics applications. Topics include new features in HFSS (matrix solver through HPC multithreading, HFSS-IE solver using preconditioner, antenna-related features, spectral decomposition, and multiphysics) and DesignerRF; advanced numerical techniques such as finite elements, both frequency and transient based, and method of moments and physical optics, all combined with hybrid solution approaches; HPC; and high-frequency circuit simulation Robust Design for RF/Antenna Applications ANSYS HFSS 15.0 includes new enhancements of the Hybrid Finite Element and Integral Equation Method, providing an efficient solution for electromagnetically large models with complex sources. Radiators comprised of mixed material types are modeled seamlessly across solve domain methodologies. In this work, we will present the hybrid features, and demonstrate how and where to apply these new features to improve the efficiency and capacity for various applications. Bidirectionally Coupled Full-Wave EM to Thermal Stress Simulation This session details RF/microwave systems simulation in a real-world multiphysics environment. It demonstrates the ANSYS HFSS 15.0 comprehensive solution capable of performing bidirectional coupled analysis between EM, thermal, structural mechanics and fluid flow.
