Introduction


Hospitality and Tourism Management is as old as
civilization. Traders, hunters and others needed a
place to rest and at the same time rest the horses.
As the 19th century emerged, hotels were built, travel
was marketed and transportation systems emerged.
Today, the hospitality and tourism management is
one of the largest industries in the world! There are
many opportunities for persons who are interested in
“serving” and “being of service,” to exceed guests
expectations.
What were the historical developments of hospitality
and tourism management? What are the major
components of hospitality and tourism management?
What are some of the national organizations/groups
related to Hospitality and Tourism?
Task


You have been asked by your company to research the Hospitality
and Tourism industry through out history. You will design a threefold pamphlet that your company will print to hand out at the college
and career fair at your local high school. Your task will be to
analyze information about the hospitality and tourism industry. View,
research and summarize information related to the following:

After gathering the needed information, create a three-fold
pamphlet summarizing the information. Your pamphlet should

Careers are challenging and provide many
opportunities to be creative to exceed
guest expectations. The career provides an
unlimited number of opportunities for
persons who are willing to serve and make
guests happy.
After completion of the brochure, each
team will be assigned one component from
question two. The team will write a one to
two page paper on their component and
present it to the class.
