Regional Energy Agency Kvarner Ltd. Regionalna energetska agencija Kvarner d.o.o. Primorsko-goranske županije Darko Jardas, M.Sc., Director Invest forum of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the City of Rijeka Opatija, October 30, 2013 Regional Energy Agency Kvarner Ltd. has been established by the County of Primorje-Gorski Kotar, with the support of the European Commission, Intelligent Energy Europe program in 2009; The Agency is established as a single organization and institutionalized framework for more rational use of existing energy resources; The main objective and the role of the Agency is to promote and encourage sustainable regional development in the field of energy through the use of renewable energy sources and introducing energy efficiency; The Agency also supports the introduction of 'good practice' in energy management, encourages the concept of sustainable development, provides information and advice, as well as a range of other services based on specific local energy needs; The Agency's mission is to increase the share of renewable energy in total energy consumption in its region. MAIN ACTIVITIES OF THE AGENCY: proposing and implementing measures to achieve energy efficiency (EE) and the use of renewable energy sources (RES) – also known as 20-20-20 Energy savings in buildings (energy audits, energy certificates, recommendations for increasing the efficiency of heating, lighting and installation) premanent citizen’s education monitoring and assessing the current situation and analysis proposing energy action plans with emphasis on EE and RES cooperation with local governments on energy projects and making of their SEAP’s project application to EU and other funds Greenhouse gass Energy consumption Renewables “Sun on your roof” and “Green energy in my home” Projects “Sun on your roof” in 2010 - solar thermal collectors Project “Green energy in my home” in 2011 - 2010 year’s project extended to biomass systems Projects are aimed to co-finance households in installing heating systems using renewable energy sources Total costs of equipment and installation of solar or biomass systems in households are co-financed in the amount of 40% of the investment. “Green energy in my home” Psychiatric Hospital Rab Home for the Elderly and Infirm Persons „Mali Kartec”, Krk “Public flat roof market ” The project involves investment in photovoltaic power plants with capacity of 30 kW each, suited on the flat roofs of buildings owned by the local government. The area of the county of Primorje and Gorski Kotar has a great potential to exploit the solar energy. The Power purchase contract gives the investor/project developer a proof that their electricity production will be incentivized for a period of 14 years.
