INTRODUCTION
ASTRA “Arab Supply & Trading Corporation” is 100% Saudi owned
and managed organization. Founded in 1967 to undertake various
activities. More than 3500 employees work for the corporation in the

Based on the owner’s “self sufficiency” vision a Construction Branch
was established in 1976 to fulfill the needs of Astra’s various divisions
for the study, design and the construction of all required facilities. This
was planned then in order to guarantee the correct implementation of
ideas and projects and to ensure achieving all set tasks and goals.
The increase in demand for quality in Saudi Arabia prompted us to
expand in order to fulfill this market requirement and now we are
classified as one of the leading constructions companies in the region.
Astra has the capacity of constructing, maintaining & operating
compounds like Al-Hamra , Al -Cordoba, Khurais Compounds in Riyadh,
Al-Hamran, Olaya & Astra Family Compounds in Tabuk.
Astra has the capacity to provide financial support for large projects if
and when required; in fact the construction branch is organized to take
on any necessary expansion to cope with such project.
The yearly turn over of the construction branch ranges between (80 to
100) Million Dollars.

DEPARTMENTS BREIF
Since the beginning of Astra Construction Branch in 1976, projects
department has been looking forward to upgrading the construction
of important & vital projects in Tabuk Area.
Astra Construction is one of the biggest contracting companies and
has the highest classification of contractors in Tabuk Area. The
projects constructed by Astra vary from schools, colleges, universities
such as Girls College and Tabuk University; i.e. Fahad Bin Sultan
University in Tabuk, Technical College in Umolj, to hospitals such as
Haqil Hospital in Tabuk Area and three hospitals in Duba and Umloj in
Tabuk Area, and Khayber in Al Medina Munawara.
This is in addition to many specialized buildings, mosques, apartment
complexes and services buildings. Currently, the company is seeking
uniqueness in contracting projects with specialized high-tech which
needs high & special experience.
DEPARTMENTS BREIF
This department is concerned with the technical sides of all activities
conducted by the company. It prepares financial and technical studies
for projects established by the company and follows up execution of
work, taking into consideration quality, time and cost.
The following sections are included in this department:
Studies and Pricing Section:
The main responsibility of this section is to make all necessary financial
and technical studies for projects. It also compares market prices to get
the best specifications for the lowest price to enable the company of
better competition.
Planning Section:
This section is responsible for preparing time schedule, then
monitoring & updating it during execution.
Cost Control Section:
This section is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and monitoring
budgets to ensure their consistency with the plans.
Quality Assurance / Control Section:
This section follow ups work execution to ensure its compliance with
the highest standards and quality, keeping in mind the commitment of
the company to the highest standards and specifications and always
abides by the international standards and quality.
Drawing Section:
The responsibilities of this section is to prepare all necessary workshop
drawings required during execution, then issuing the as- built drawing
projects. Also, this section prepares the design drawing for most
projects related to ASTRA Group, specially in Tabuk area.
Electromechanical Section:
This section is responsible for preparing shop drawing and executing all
works related to Electro-Mechanical works in the projects. Also, it
prepares the design drawings for projects related to ASTRA Group.
Financial Department,
Overview,
Financial Department is a backbone of Astra Construction
Branch, as this department is responsible for maintaining the
Branch’s accounting records and providing accurate and timely
financial data through an effective system of reporting also to
report, analyze and interpret the results of operation to
Branch Management.
Main Functions of Financial Department
High levels of finance department responsibilities are apparent
for core process type activities- accounting, transaction
processing, financial information, zakat , cash management
and financial controls.
Medium Levels of finance department responsibility are seen
in the application type areas such as general management and
control and strategy and risk management.
Junior Level of finance department responsibility are seen in
accurate and timely finance recoding , monitoring of costs &
revenue
Human Resources and personnel department .
Main role :
A strategic and coherent approach to the management of the
company’s most valued assets which is the people working for
the company who individually and collectively contribute to
the achievement of its objectives.

wants to be. Some of the functions a PMO might typically manage include:

Compounds
ASTRA owns, operates these fully-furnished luxury
residential compounds on the out skirts of Riyadh &
Tabuk. When completed in 1994, the Al Cordoba complex
(45% owned by Astra) was the first of its kind in the
Kingdom. It comprises 271 residential units, including oneor-two bedrooms apartments and town-houses with two
to five bedrooms.
The new ALHAMRA (17% owned by Astra), was opened
in 1997. it consists of 416 housing units, ranging from oneor-two bedrooms apartments and two to four bedrooms
town-houses.
These two compounds remain Riyadh's premier residential
compounds. Although just 15-minutes drive from city
center on the freeway to King Khalid International Airport,
each compound is a completely self-sufficient, landscaped
community, providing residents with every facility and
service for comfortable living both enjoy 24-hour security
and maintenance services.
KHURAIS residential compound in Riyadh which is
owned 100% by Astra, comprises of 40 residential units,
including two-or-three bedrooms duplex and stand alone
villas with every facility and services for comfortable
living.
OLAYA residential compound in Tabuk which is owned
100% by Astra, comprises of 36 residential duplex villas
with three bedrooms, compound was completed in 1995.
FAMILY residential compound in Tabuk which is owned
100% by Astra, comprises of 29 residential villas with 2, 3
& four bedrooms, compound was completed in 1982.
Compounds include such recreational facilities as multiple
swimming pools, outdoor/indoor tennis courts, squash
courts, multipurpose courts, exercise halls and fullyequipped gyms, health clubs, indoor running tracks,
bowling allies, billiards/snooker rooms, games rooms and
special libraries and youth clubs.
On-site shopping centers house services catering to daily
needs such as supermarkets, dry cleaners, hair salons,
health clinics, and shop for photos, pastries, flowers and
gifts. There are even professionally-run pre-schools and
nurseries for children from one to five year. Fine
restaurants, terraces, auditoriums and function halls also
