Shape and size of the profession • Aging cohort of engineers • Increased access to Engineering for Black students • Increased numbers of Black graduates with 4 year BSC Eng degrees. • Industry should be engaged to provide appropriate experience for graduates 8 Key Challenges facing the profession 2. Improved Numbers of Engineering graduates from our national HE system. • Need to understand the barriers to student success • Institutional factors play a role in student success • Create a national platform for sharing experiences • Establish a co-ordinated national response to increase graduate output from universities 9 An analysis of the 2001 national intake cohort of engineering students at SA HEIs.
