OIL & GAS TECHNOLOGY
OVERVIEW
India is now the fifth largest energy consumer in the world. Exploration has
grown dramatically in the last decade since the start of the New Exploration
Licensing Policy (NELP) and a Coal Bed Methane (CBM) policy is being
formulated for the exploration of CBM blocks.
32% of India’s sedimentary basin remains unexplored with an investment
need of US$6-8 billion in exploration and production. LNG infrastructure
from terminals to regasification is required. Recent gas finds and increased
use of gas for power generation, petrochemicals and fertilizers provides
opportunities for investment in the entire petroleum value chain.
The increase in both E&P and R&M activities in the Indian oil and gas
industry has created a demand for advanced technologies that are not
available from domestic suppliers alone and with the rapid economic
growth and increased hunger for energy supplies, India’s government
increasingly encourages private and foreign investment into its hydrocarbon
industry.
Oil & Gas Technology India is published quarterly in a format that combines
attractive design with the very highest production standards. We showcase
the latest technologies and innovations that are deployed globally and
emphasise how Indian projects can benefit from utilising the latest solutions,
products and best practice. It is the only publication in India to promote
exclusively foreign technologies and companies to the local oil and gas
community.

FEATURES
India plans to emerge as a potential shale gas player, holding an estimated 15 billion
tonnes of recoverable reserves out of 137 billion tonnes in place, given an expected
recovery rate of between 10% and 15%. The government delayed its first ever shale
gas exploration round this year, planning to launch the round by the end of 2013. The
government has mapped recoverable shale gas resources and is working on putting in
place a regulatory regime for licensing round in shale gas by December 2013.
